New Twist to Dancing with the Stars
Rumor has it that Lance Bass is scheduled to be on the next Dancing with a Stars and they are considering him dancing with a man. Will that work for you?

Heard about it. No problem for me with 2 men dancing. Will make for some interesting TV. Ratings wouldn't hurt either. They had Steve Guttenberg dance with one of the male pros when his partner was incapcitated.
I thought the twist would be them actually getting legitimate "stars" to perform.

So, uh, who'd be leading, Lance or the pro male dancer? :D

Eh, who cares? Let him dance with another dude if he wants.

I couldn't care less about this news. I'd be shocked if they actually did it though. |
I don't watch this show but if they did have 2 guys dance, I'd tune in watch. It wouldn't bother me at all.
I'm very surprised that ABC would do this, given the almost certain ratings hit they'll take. Then again, given how much Karina is hated by the carbon blobs, they'll probably advance further than her. ;)
I don't care, but I won't exactly be rooting for them since I always root for the female pros to stick around the longest. |
I hated it when they had Heather Mills-McCartney because I felt it was too focused on her disability, so I'd rather not see yet another stunt casting.
It is kind of silly, since many of the pros are probably gay, yet they still have female dance partners. You are there to dance together, not have sex.
Have these fools never read a dictionary? Dancing is one of the cornerstones of our civilization, and is clearly defined as being between a MAN and a WOMAN. If this goes on the air, our society will crumble!
Male-male rumba? Not gong to work. Always preferred SYTYCD anyway.
From a ratings point of view, it is probably a bad move. I read somewhere recently, I think TV guide, that the average viewer is late 30's or early 40's, hopefully someone can clarify that. They will more than likely alienate the older demo and those with traditional values. This is just my opinion though.
I don't know if I agree with you guys who say the ratings would suffer. At least for the first few weeks the ratings would probably spike upwards. Granted, as people either decide it's no big deal or too much for them, the ratings would probably fall. But I still think lotsa people would tune in.
And if Lance and his male partner do well and make it to the finals I'm sure another spike up would occur. To be honest, I think they should do 2 women first then later on 2 guys. Let's be honest, people seem to be less uptight about 2 women and even in different cultures women dancing together without men is "ok". |
It'll be a controversial move that will get big ratings initially and then level off. But really, stunt casting isn't unusual... 1-legged dancer, deaf dancer, fat dancer, geriatric dancers...
I foresee a season where Dancing With Bernie will come to fruition.
He will be the 1st voted off.

http://television.aol.com/celebritie...307x1200271107 People need to get over it already. |
Although this would be the first time to be televised on national TV, gay men have been dancing together for years in ballroom, line dances, square dances, etc. Although I don't think it's as graceful as a male/female pairing, two men dancing together is so harmless.
Isn't a ballroom dancing show gay enough already?
