Just to be clear : She HASN'T yet. She's among ten women, five of whom will be nominated. The answer to your question : It's hard to be nominated for an acting roll in a sci-fi series. Heck, even the Ocsars have only nominated Sir Alec Guiness once and Sigourney Weaver once and nobody else, to my knowledge, for an acting performance in any sci-fi film (well unless you count Jeff Bridges in "Starman", but that's not really sci-fi, is it?).
