The Simpsons

this week at best buy most seasons are on sale, my question is when did The Simpsons become The Simpsons that we know as we know it today? i know the frist few seasons looks mess up.

Season 3 is where you want to start. Season 2 had some good episodes, though.

I'm a little confused by your post, but if you want The Simpsons most of American can agree on that its their prime I'd say Season 3 - 8. Season 9 had some classics, and Season 10 was the downward spiral we've sunk to.

I myself enjoy every episode in one way shape or form, but my Seasons 3 - 8 DVDs get the most play.

The Simpsons that we know TODAY sucks, so it became that around the year 2000 or 2001. The Simpsons as I like remember it were seasons 3-8.

I'd agree with this assessment, but I would still argue that there are a couple of first season episodes that are really good and need to be seen, like the finale for instance.

I'd say S2-S8.

I stopped watching simpsons a long time ago. Its just not that funny anymore. I loved seasons 1-10 and maybe a few after that. I think the movie should've been the finale.

For whatever reason, I've always liked the episode where Homer and Marge go to marriage counseling in Season 1. The scene where one of the other husbands yells "QUEEN OF THE HARPIES! QUEEN OF THE HARPIES!" at his wife is hilarious to me.

Are you talking animation wise or story wise? For the post it makes me think you are looking for the animation side of things...

That's how I read it too.

The animation seemed to start looking more refined by about S4-S5 I think. One of those seasons though all the character's pupils were noticeably bigger - I think Groening even comments on it on one of the commentary tracks.

The OP is clearly looking for that.

By Season 2, the animation was more like the current seasons.

Writing-wise, the best seasons were until about 1998 or 1999. I don't know what season that is. Eight? Nine?

"Here's your crown your majesty!"

Yeah, I love that scene, too.

I've never seen a full episode of The Simpsons, but I enjoyed the movie greatly.
