I thought they would advance the story about Ted finding his future wife, but this should make for a good finale.

I was hoping so too, but it looks not. Hopefully they'll prove us wrong in about an hour.

The pencil was one of the funniest thing Ive seen. A live action of a Beavis & Butthead gag

The lice thing dragged too long though.

And what a cliffhanger!

Haha the episode wasn't bad, some funny parts - especially the pencil thing - but that cliffhanger...wow. Any guesses on her answer? And Barney's look towards Robin....whoah....

I started giggling like a small child when that happened. Quite possibly one of the funniest things I've seen in a while...

I'm concerned because I don't know what this would do to
Spoiler:
Dr. Elliot Reid for the final season of Scrubs
.

Does Sarah Chalke's involvement have something to do with the uncertainty that was surrounding Scrubs? I wonder how it having been picked up for another season affects HIMYM?

I predicted that Ted was going to do that at the end. I did not, however, see the Barney/Robin thing coming in the hospital so kudos to that!

Did anything happen after Ted asked Stella to marry him? My Tivo was acting goofy as shit for the first time towards the end of the hour.

Rupert Murdoch. Wait, maybe that was from the "Two and a Half Men" end card from Chuck Lorre.

I have to admit I got a little teary when Ted, Barney, & Marshall were doing the brother group hug.

I wonder if the Barney/Robin plot will play out like on Friends; Barney in love in Robin for part of a season, then he moves on just as she realizes she loves him for another part of a season, then they ultimately get together. Expect the neutering of Barney to begin in September.

I laughed when Marshall, Lily, and Robin were all frantically making their way to the hospital only to find Ted sitting in bed calmly eating jello.

I hope Sarah Chalke is not the Mother. I did not care for how they delivered that as I've been waiting for a really great storyline to get us there since the shows inception.

This was not it. My guess the writers strike coupled with the looming possible cancellation and Britney stunt casting has forced the writers into scramble mode.. and it shows. I hope the offseason brings the focus together.

I did like the Barney/Robin thing, that was well done however.

I distinctly remember the show producers saying in an interview back in August or September that THIS season they were DEFINITELY going to introduce the REAL mother, that they had dragged it out long enough. I have a hard time believing that Stella is the real mother, so I hafta call shenanigans on that.

From this interview with the creator: http://blog.zap2it.com/korbitv/2008/...-met-your.html

I'm happy about the Scrubs pickup, but it probably screwed up your plans a little bit, no?
Actually, it's not as big of an obstacle as you might think, because Scrubs is shooting straight through the Summer, so they’re going to finish all their episodes right about the time we would start back up.

Plus, doesn't she already have a kid. Wouldn't Ted be telling the story to all 'his' kids?

It was actually the end card from "The Big Bang Theory," unless Lorre reused the same one for "Two and a Half Men."

true but isn't her kid like 10 in 2008? So that would make her in her mid to late 20's when he's telling his kids? Maybe she's off in college or something. I'm sure they'll use a lame excuse like that if Stella does indeed turn out to be her. As much as I like Sarah Chalke, I can't picture her as anything but Dr. Reed. It's weird to see her not saying "Frick" and calling Ted JD.

I'd love to see Chalke stay on the show as the mother.

I think it would be funny if Stella was played by Alicia Goranson from Roseanne next season.
