EMMY AND GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER "24" GETS A JUMPSTART ON THE CLOCK WITH SPECIAL TWO-HOUR PREQUEL SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, ON FOX

"Day 7" Season Premiere Clocks-In January 2009

Fans have been waiting almost a year for the return of 24, television's most addictive drama. On Sunday, November 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the wait will be over as FOX presents a special two-hour prequel event.

Shot on location in South Africa, Jack Bauer battles an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, the prequel will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven.

"We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24," commented executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone's commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans."

Celebrating its 150th episode this season, the series has resumed production on "Day 7" and will unfold without interruption in its regular time period Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) beginning in January 2009.

Spoiler:
Set in Washington, DC, "Day 7" finds CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer on trial. Bauer's day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore).

A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), Agent RENEE WALKER (Annie Wersching), Agent LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist MICHAEL LATHAM (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.

As part of News Corp.'s global commitment to fighting climate change, 24 has pledged significant and innovative changes to its production practices with the goal of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, 24 is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Jon Cassar, Manny Coto, David Fury, Kiefer Sutherland and Brian Grazer are the executive producers.

Hopefully this is of a better quality than season six was -- otherwise this could end up being the worst thing that every happened on November 23.

I don't think it is possible to sink lower than season 6. Onward and upward from this point on.

The trailer they released way back when for Season 7 looked awfully good. But let's remember, Season 6's first 4 episdoes were awfully good as well...it was only the remaining 20 that were complete shit.

Looking forward to this -- I'm confident the creative team took corrective action to mitigate a repeat of season 6-like quality.

So what's the current reason why we can't finally get the "24" movie?

Everybody really needs to just forget about season 6 and quit bringing it up. Just pretend that it never happened. That should be easy because for one thing it's been like 5 years since the last time 24 was on (well not really but it seems like it) so I've pretty much forgotten the whole storyline anyway. Secondly, the show appears to be going in a totally different direction so it looks like the creators are acting as if season 6 didn't exist either.

I'm looking forward to it. If season 7 sucks too then we have a problem, but everybody needs to just block season 6 from their minds and start over with 7 and see how it goes.

That would mean Jack is still trapped in China. Which is what I believe everyone excitedly hoped the next season would be about at the end of 5.

Yeah you're right. That would have been better.

Well...just pretend Jack politely asked his captors to let him go and they said yes. When he came back Audrey had run off, but luckily Jack (like the rest of us) didn't give a rat's ass.

I'm actually quite surprised that FOX is shelling out the money for them to shoot on location overseas in South Africa. Jack Bauer facing an overseas international crisis is sounding pretty damn good.

Yes, I agree stop bringing up season 6 and let's move forward.

There is still suppose to be a 24 feature film for theatrical release. However, it's probably not going to be made until the series concludes.

I know I read 2 years ago that Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran wrote a script for it, but they couldn't work out the logistics of shooting the movie and a season simultaneously. From what I heard, the feature film will be shot in multiple international cities.

Villan casting news!

Spoiler:
Jon Voight signs on for "24" role
Fri Jun 13, 2008 9:27am BST

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In his first series role in 40 years, Jon Voight has signed on as a recurring character on the upcoming seventh season of "24."

On the Emmy-winning Fox drama, Voight will play the uber-nemesis of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), who is pulling the strings behind next season's terrorist threat.

The character will be introduced during "24's" two-hour Season 7 prequel and will be featured heavily in the latter half of the season.

The prequel, now shooting on location in South Africa, is slated to air November 23, with Season 7 of the series kicking off in January.

Voight's role marks the first high-profile villain casting on "24" since Season 1, when Dennis Hopper appeared in the final episodes as Serbian nationalist Victor Drazen.

Voight did several TV guest spots early in his career -- including a three-episode stint on "Gunsmoke" in the late '60s -- until his movie career exploded with "Midnight Cowboy" in 1969.

A four-time Academy Award nominee, Voight won the best actor Oscar for 1978's "Coming Home." He recently reprised his role as Nicolas Cage's father in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets."

Big to today's casting news. I don't suppose there's any chance said actor's daughter could make a cameo too?
