Spoiler:
Dr. Cox narrates his tough day at the hospital to his son through a fairy tale.

This is being billed by NBC as the series finale even though it will likely wrap on ABC next season.

movieking 05-08-08 09:09 AM

Been waiting for this one for a long time.

Goat3001 05-08-08 10:08 AM

This sounds interesting like the Wizard of Oz episode.

Anyone know how many eps will air on ABC next season?

Gizmo 05-08-08 11:03 AM

18 on ABC. Its confirmed.

pinata242 05-08-08 12:51 PM

I feel like I've been waiting for this specific episode for years now!

Why is
Spoiler:
Kelso there? I thought he left as Chief of Medicine 2-3 episodes ago?

shaun3000 05-08-08 07:34 PM

Spoiler:
Sooo..... I could have sworn Kelso retired two episodes ago, and that it was referenced several times in LAST WEEK'S episode. Soooooooooooooooo.............. what the heck was he doing back at work..?

Tom Banjo 05-08-08 07:36 PM

Yeah, I just came here to post my confusion, too.

kstublen 05-08-08 07:39 PM

Why is Kelso back at Sacred Heart?

From Wikipedia:

This episode was broadcast in Ireland on May 1, 2008, one week ahead of the scheduled premiere in the United States. The error occurred due to the Irish network broadcasting Scrubs based on the production order, under which "My Princess" was episode nine of season seven, rather than the final air order under which "My Dumb Luck" was ninth and "My Princess" was bumped to the 11th slot.
I dunno though...that wouldn't seem to account for how it's all messed up in the US. In any case, there must be some sort of error that has taken place, which makes it look like NBC really couldn't care less about the show.

I do like when Dr. Cox is with his son though. Always thought that little kid was pretty cute.

Brian Gentz 05-08-08 07:40 PM

this was filmed before Kelso left, they thought this would be a better finale

kstublen 05-08-08 07:46 PM

Thus far, I think this is one of my least favourite episodes of Scrubs. Pretty disappointed that this is the season finale.

EDIT: The only redeeming thing about this episode to me, like I alluded to before, was the interaction between Cox and Jack. I liked what he said to Jordan at the end too. Other than that, it seems as if NBC wanted to end on a bad note or something.

shaun3000 05-08-08 07:48 PM

So the entire series' continuity goes out the window with the finale, but wait, it's NOT the finale, the final season is on ABC.

reubs82 05-08-08 08:05 PM

Boo to NBC.

That is all.

TGM 05-08-08 08:43 PM

this episode sucked.

Goldberg74 05-08-08 08:58 PM

I don't know why all of you are pissing and moaning about the continuity of this episode being a problem.

I just accepted it as separate story, independent of time and continuity. It could have happened a few weeks earlier than that day that Cox told the story to Jack.

Spoiler:
I mean the patient... er, "My Princess" did eventually die, but we are not told when.

Heck, Laverne has been dead for awhile and she was in it... oh, wait, she is Nurse Shirley, I remember.

... but it was also after Turk lost a nut (brought up by Turla when they mentioned that they only had one ball; that happened in episode 147 [7.8]).

I enjoyed the episode. Especially Ted's as Lord Oslek's lackey.

FYI, Braff directed it.

shaun3000 05-08-08 09:09 PM

The episode where Laverne died was to be the final as NBC hadn't yet renewed the contract. They DID renew the contract at the last minute, but after Laverne's death had been filmed. SO, they made a new character for her. It's a running gag, with JD being the only one who can see the resemblance.

JPRaup 05-08-08 09:10 PM

What an awful episode. Fuck NBC. Bring on ABC.

PacMan2006 05-08-08 09:27 PM

I really liked this episode, actually. It wasn't a gut buster, but I really loved how they did this episode. I thought it was a unique way to tell an otherwise pretty simple story.

rfduncan 05-08-08 09:31 PM

Lord Oslek. Turla's wand turning Sascha into Nurse Shirley. LOL!

(How did they get away with that nipple armor?!??!)

Showing this out of order was just weak and inexcusable. Buh-bye NBC.

Goat3001 05-08-08 09:32 PM

I enjoyed the episode too. It didn't work well as a season finale though. If this was a random middle of the season episode it would have worked much better. Hopefully on DVD they'll put the episodes in the correct order. Kelso inexplicably being there was confusing. NBC sucks.

Can't wait to see it on ABC and I'm extremely happy the show is getting a good and proper series finale.

reubs82 05-08-08 09:35 PM

As far as the episode itself, I thought it was actually pretty good. An average Scrubs is better than most of the crap on TV lately. I just hope the DVD sets will have these air in the order in which they were intended, and I think that NBC just took a crappy way out of finishing up an otherwise pretty damn good show.

I'm ready for a full season from ABC, and I hope this show gets the send-off it deserves. It also appears that the final season will not have Elliot and JD get together, which is just fine as far as I'm concerned.

Gizmo 05-08-08 10:35 PM

NBC felt this episode better serves as a "finale" then the previous one hence why Kelso is still Chief. This episode was the last one completed and the only one NBC allowed the cast to come back for and complete after the strike. It was being filmed concurrently with the previous 2 episodes but was not finished.

The other episodes which are being filmed/written...are for ABC. 18. The entire cast (except a few minor characters) are back. We will know more next week at the upfronts.

It had nothing to do with the contract. Her death was in the middle of season six. They did it because they wanted to have a death on the show of a character that people knew, as opposed to a random patient. They liked the actress, so they decided to bring her back with the new chracter.

shaun3000 05-09-08 12:15 AM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laverne...#Nurse_Shirley

After the show was renewed for a seventh season, Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence promised Aloma Wright another job on the show because killing off Laverne was written under the impression that it was the final year of the show.
