As for "too political".... duh, his show is a parody of the news, so of course it'll be political. Why is it you think that a move to a late-night talk show would mean that he would just move his entire politically-based show instead of adapting to a new style?
I have no problem with his parody style. I have a problem with people that take what he says as the 'truth' as if he is REALLY reporting REAL news.

Let's face it... the days of trying to find a unifying host like Johnny Carson are long past us. The best we can hope for is three or four pretty good shows to choose from so there's something for everybody.
I prefer Kimmel, myself. I don't find his show to be crude or juvenile at all.

I think he meant everyone agrees that Fallon stinks...which is the same impression I got up to this post.

I guess Jimmy's big movie career didn't go so well so now he is eyeing this?
I think Jimmy is a bit too full of himself for me to be entertained by a talk show in which he is featured.
No thanks.

Conan - great show for 12:30, I'm worried about 11:30. I like the stupid stuff like fake car chases and Masturbating Bear.
Craig - Good host, worst skits ever, EVER
Kimmell - Really weak support (Uncle Frank, Guillermo) but he's actually pretty entertaining
Leno - plain, boring, repetitive, watchable because NBC has the money for decent writers
Letterman - Has totally lost it, terrible show
Stewart - Natural as a talk show host, go watch his stand up from the early 90s there's more to him than bashing Bush. He's probably the best critic of the media out there, this would translate really well to more traditional shows
Fallon- will fail miserably, Ferguson's ratings will go through the roof

I have mixed feelings on this. I didn't have a problem with his SNL (even the laughing at his own jokes) but I'm not sure I can watch him and not get angry about the 2004 Red Sox on-field celebration.

NBC's Jimmy Fallon Experiment Starting Really Soon
Los Angeles (E! Online) – We get to go to bed with Jimmy Fallon even sooner than we expected.
NBC confirmed today that the former SNLer's late-night dry run, which will be online only at first, begins Monday night—or technically Tuesday morning at 12:35 a.m.
While Fallon has been called upon to fill the sizable shoes of departing Late Night host Conan O'Brien, these initial five-minute webisodes will be less like mini talk shows and more like free-form, (hopefully) funny video diaries for Fallon to catch us up on what life has been like for him as he prepares to take over one of the most coveted jobs in television.
Either way, it should give us a taste of what it will be like to watch him on a nightly basis.
Also Monday, NBC is planning to announce an official premiere date for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. (FYI, it's expected to be March 2, according to Variety, which also reports that jazzy hip-hoppers the Roots are poised to be the show's house band.)
O'Brien, meanwhile, will begin his Tonight Show gig on June 1 after what will surely be a laughter-and-tears-filled goodbye blowout for outgoing host Jay Leno.

Re: Jimmy Fallon Clinches Conan's Job
If Fallon replaced Carson Daly and Leno and Conan retained their original time slots that would have been a killer lineup.
Leno moves to 10pm but will he keep a similar format or will he do a Ellen Degeneres type of show?
Still I will watch NBC late night over the crap at CBS.
Ferguson is a cool guy but he is not funny and Letterman is washed up and nobody watches his show.
The Joaquin Phoenix incident was the best publicity Letterman got in the last 9 years.

I know about most of these because they've resulted in threads on this very board. I guess some people still watch. I prefer him to Leno, but I prefer Norm Macdonald as Letterman to the real deal.

Re: Jimmy Fallon Clinches Conan's Job
At first, I was like "Jimmy Fallon? WTF, he sucks!" But, after the interview on Conan last week (and watching some of his online videos) he seems like an earnest guy, so I hope people at least give him a fair shot. He might surprise us.

This has been totally off my radar, but where is Jay Leno going?
Never really warmed up to him really, still have fond memories of Carson...

That should be a fun interview. Two former SNL stars.
