Muslim Comedians (PBS special)

I’m looking forward to this new PBS special ‘Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age.’ It’ll be refreshing to see a truly funny documentary for once, and I think comedy is the best way to analyze sensitive issues regarding prejudice. I think the saying goes "To laugh is to be human," and I think by finding that common ground these comics are a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to check it out.

Here's a link with a list of the comics: http://stagetimemag.com/standup/?p=480

I wonder if they can be as "funny" as their Christian counterparts?

I saw a few of these comedians on a Comedy Central special not too long ago. They blew the place up.

Hi-yo!

Seriously, pretty funny stuff.

I heard an interview with (I think) one Lebanese, one Iranian, and one Saudi comedian. The most interesting thing is that they apparently sell two versions of their comedy albums at their shows: one with the racier bits for normal fans and one with no profanity or blasphemy for children and fundamentalists.

Lol!

Yeah, I've really enjoyed what I've seen of them, so I want to support what they're doing by seeing this PBS special. I'll just post the lineup here; they're also a very diverse group so they each offer a different perspective: Ahmed Ahmed is Egyptian (part of the "Axis of Evil Comedy Tour"), Tissa Hami is Iranian, Dean Obeidallah and Maysoon Zayid are Palestinian, Azhar Usman is Indian, and they have lived all over the U.S. too.
