South Park - 3/19/2008 - "Britney's New Look"

When the boys help Britney Spears get to the North Pole, they discover the shocking secret behind her popularity.
What possible purpose could Cartman have for Butter's in that outfit?

I really hope they tone down Cartman's mean ness. He used to be my favorite charactor but it's gone too far on how mean and assholish he is all the time.

Considering how Paris Hilton had Butters dressed up, I think that is an improvement!

Wow, Britney Spears. South Park is sure cutting edge. Nobody's thought to parody her before.

I know, right? I mean, even "South Park did it" and those guys are so far behind the curve that they're lapping themselves.

So, it wasn't too far when, years ago, they dressed him up like Hitler and he led a team of christians on a plan to carry out the "final solution"?

It's all Scott Tenorman's fault, really.

I was thinking it was a pretty weak episode until the last ten minutes or so (specifically when people started singing the Satanic Mass). If they'd gotten to the Wicker Man parody faster, it woudl've been perfect.

at the arbitrary Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) reference. And the ending.
Spoiler:
Miley Cyrus! (cue Omen chanting)

Arguably the best satirical dig Trey and Matt have made since Trapped in the Closet.

That episode was among the worst I have seen. One or two chuckles thats about it. What a missed opportunity. (And about 5 months too late come to think of it.)

I thought the first half was pretty good. I really enjoyed her blowing her head off, and Butters as the squirrel. Much better than last week at least.

The pic of Butters getting captured by Animal Control was funny, other than that it was pretty bad.

Started out great but was a steady decline. And yes, Butters in a squirrel suit captured by Animal Control is gold.

I've been a big SP fan since ep1, and maybe I'm just getting older, maybe too many repeat viewings of Family Guy and The Simpsons has ruined me; but so far this season seems trite, weak, stale and unfunny. And it pains me to say so. It's almost as if the boys just dusted off scripts from a couple of years ago and hoped they would still be relevant. To a point they are, but the execution seems strained.
