Bionic Woman Canceled ??
Now, with the Hollywood writers strike coming to an end, producers at America's NBC/Universal network have decided not to renew the show for a second season, the Daily Mail can reveal.
A source said: "Barring a last-minute miracle, the show won't be coming back. Inside the network, there's just no appetite to see more episodes, and it was an incredibly expensive show to make week in and week out. "Producers are sick of throwing good money after bad at this series." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1773 |
While it's probably true, that story doesn't seem to be based on much more than an anonymous source's guess and the fact that Michelle Ryan returned to England. Since NBC announced they were going to delay the production of any new shows until the fall I imagine Ryan has a few months off even if it were renewed, so it's not surprising to see her go home for a while.

Yeah sorry about that I should have checked the source out more closely. I found it on Digg and thought it was fact.

much like the Terminator series...started off good (well, decently,) but I lost interest rather quickly...
|
I liked the show so I'm bummed.
|
I liked the show also but I kind of expected it to be canceled. I don't think terminator will have a second seasons either.

Female driven action projects have not had the best of luck in the past few years. I don't know why this is but I guess the public does not have an appetite for it.
|
While I enjoyed the show, bad worth of mouth killed it. I hope Michelle Ryan gets another shot at American TV. Maybe next time they will actually cast her as an English Woman.
As for Terminator, I think there is a better than 50% shot it gets a 2nd season. The 18-49 demographic has been pretty good and it actualy gains viewers from Prison Break. Money will definitely play a factor since I read the show is very expensive. |
[Gomer Pyle voice]Surrrrrprise, surrrrrPRISE![Gomer Pyle voice]
Watched it all, but honestly the early DVD announcement was the start of the death knell. And as for Terminator, I agree with Dan1boy.

5 seasons of Alias (although the last 2 were teh suck), doesn't = failure.
|
I bailed on it after a few episodes. I had second thoughts though and thought about tuning again after they brought in Jason Katims as Exec Producer -- looks like it didn't help matters much though.

This ridiculous lack of originality works great for procedural dramas, but the network suits have yet to realize that shows that demand more attention from the viewer also demand more quality. People will tune in to C.S.I.: Omaha and Law and Order: Mall Cops, because it's formulaic and casual, and we can skip three seasons and not miss a single thing. But if they expect us to tune in every week to keep up with a complicated mythology, the show has to have an interesting direction and quality writing. The recent chick-action shows simply haven't. I think the public would be very receptive to an action project with a badass female lead. Someone just needs to write one that doesn't suck. das |

Call me crazy, but 'Bionic Woman' reminded me in a lot of ways of a poor-man's 'Chuck', which was/is vastly superior.
|
I watched it, but it didn't hold me at all. I won't miss it.
|
I wanted to like this, but couldn't get past the bad writing and acting. However, the hubby really enjoys this show, so if this is true, he'll be disappointed.
|
I guess Michelle Ryan will be going back to Eastenders. ;)

Even though there were only a handfull of episodes, can they make a spinoff with Katie Sackoff's character?
|
Although I watched most of the episodes, it just didn't hold my attention. Another than having the namesake of the '70s show, it didn't capture any of the spirit or pay homage to it whatsoever. I'm not saying they should have simply remade the show and have it take place now. But there should have been a lot wink, wink references to the old show in terms of mythos, characters, origin, etc.

I thought there were rumors that if it went to S2, they were going to make Sackoff a primary character, and have the two Bionic Women kicking butt as a team. |

I enjoyed it, but I have started to come to terms with the fact that my shows don't last and crap about dancing and singing, and Donald, etc. will last for 10 seasons.
