I thought it was blah, but I'll give it another shot. I've seen a fair amount of bad pilots that turned out to be decent shows.

Same here. Not funny...but I'll give it another shot next week.

Finally watched it. I thought it had its moments, the acupuncture potential girlfriend reminded me of Cheryl Hines of Larry David Curb Fame.
I think the show has a lot of potential and could be a mild verison of Arrested Development, which seems to be what the producers may be shooting for in a CBS watered down version kind of way. |

Aside from being mildly amused at recognizing "2 Week-Shower Curtain Girl" as "Waitress Who Blackmails Robin into paying $50 for a shaver, but no cream, and then subsequently takes her date out for a drink" from this season of "HIMYM," there was very little humor.
Although, Jesus showed some potential... |
How soon people forget 2006's "Twenty Good Years".
|
The second episode was weak.
|
Poor second episode. I don't know if I'm projecting his character from The TV Set or what, but Fran Kranz is annoying. Also Jesus was the funniest thing about the pilot, so having less of him this week was not a good thing. Pop Pop deserves better than this. Now the debate becomes whether or not this deserves a third chance.

Three times a charm???
|
IMO it's just not good as a comedy. It's better as a drama, and then just average.
|
Well I thought Ep one had some moments and I thought it could be a gem work in progress.
Ep 2 regressed big time, it was a crapfest. I don't know if I'll make Ep 3. |
This is one of those shows where I think it needs a laugh track... because that shit aint funny!
I also couldn't stop thinking of The TV Set, while watching Fran Kranz. |
In the first episode Jeffrey Tambor made it a point that he be called Uncle Saul, rather than just Saul.
In episode 2, the word "Uncle" was never uttered and Saul didn't seem bothered in the least at just being called "Saul." |
Best episode so far. I actually found Chris Klein pretty funny. Jesus did a pretty good job too. Hope it keeps up.
|
What I want to know is...
How does a show like this get on the air? Someone had to see that there wasn't a single funny moment here. Not one laugh. Not a single laugh. Al Madrigal looks like Zach Braff's love child - very distracting. I'm checking out of the Captain. |
This show is sort of growing on me, plus they brought in Shiri Appleby.
|
during the first ep i thought he was zac braff, i thought it was some kind of inside joke.
|
Yeah...this show is growing on me as well. I see how it can get better with new tenants arriving. There's plenty of room to grow and be a great show. The last two episodes were good, but the 3rd episode was the best so far IMO.
