Not tv, but maybe Decker from Blade Runner?

You might get Buck Rogers to solve the crime if it were the 25th century. Don't know if he qualifies as a detective, but then, who does that far in the future?

Your idea just made me think of a fantasy detective in a modern-day setting that I don't think has been mentioned...Angel. Assuming that the murder was done by some paranormal or supernatural agent or means, of course.
