Columbo can solve it and Vic Mackey can avenge it.

Definitely not these people:

Because it would mean that someone who loved me pushed me down the stairs or something and no one knew for 20 years until these guys repeatedly questioned various suspects until the real perp finally confessed.

Sledge Hammer. He would handcuff each suspect to his car and drive around until the guilty party would confess.

Columbo, because he would drive the murderer crazy, and they would confess just to get away from him. Maybe Jack Webb, just the facts.

The CSIs use sci-fi technology to solve the case in less than a day and get the suspect to confess without a lawyer!

Grissom for the crime scene, Quincy for some morgue analysis, Jim Rockford for some behind the scenes legwork, Cariuso circa Season 1 and Sipowicz for the interrogation,
Sam Waterson to Prosecute.

Not Bauer or Mackey. I think they'd screw up somewhere and my murderer would go free on a technicality.

It's hard for me decide, but I want an Elliot Stabler/Robert Goren double-team, each one of them whispering at the ears of the murderer and dramatically and continually switching around.

Not to mention Bauer would inevitably run out of time chasing your murderer and stumble upon a larger plot and you would be forgotten within a matter of hours.

Early-seasons David & Maddie. I know I'd enjoy their sexy banter from beyond the grave, and they usually caught the guy in the end.

I probably wouldn't care who it was because, well, I'm dead.
