Time warner cable

Not sure if this is the right forum. But anyone know when time warner is going to get more HD channels? Currenlty they only have espn's, tbs, discovery hd and locals. Would be nice to get the other discovery hd channels.

It very much depends on your location. For instance, here in New York, TWC just rolled out a bunch of new HD channels (History HD, Lifetime Real Woman HD, Food Network HD, MTV HD), but only in a couple of neighborhoods in Queens.

You don't get HDNet, Mojo, etc?

HD Forum would be the proper place, not sure myself, I've been on Comcast the last few years, their HD support has been on the upswing but I still hate their guts.

They ghave hdnet and mojo, but its some extra package, not in the basic hd package.

I've written to them via their feedback page about getting the other Discovery channels in HD, but just received a "thanks for writing" email back.

We've gotten 12 new HD channels here in Albany since late December. Markets where they use switched digital video (SDV) seem to be the ones that get the most HD channels. You can find out if your market has SDV (and other TW HD info) in this AVS thread.

If you're not in an SDV market, don't expect a lot of HD channels anytime soon, due to bandwidth issues.

First...thanks for the site! I was holding off on buying an HDTV because Time Warner didn't have a lot of HD channels in my area (Raleigh/Durham) now that I see we are a confirmed SDV area, it gives me hope.

Word is TW is getting USA HD at the end of February

TylerDurden_73 01-25-08 11:29 AM

Well I am in a sdv area, and they sure as hell don't seem to know about adding any new channels. I call atleast once a month and ask and get the same comment "don't know when we are adding new channels"

I think another problem with Time Warner is they still haven't found a way to include the NFL network in their programming.
