As some of you may have noticed, I'm not voting. I think that's for the best, but I do plan on giving you highlights of my opinion in these tabulation summaries. In this part of the first round, I would have done what most of you did: vote for the favorite. I'm a fan of every favorite except Twin Peaks, MST3K, Farscape, B5, Futurama, Freaks and Geeks, and Stargate. The only shows I regularly watched of the underdogs were Smallville and Tru Calling. While both had their charms, I couldn't vote for them over the highly regarded shows they were facing. Interestingly, I would have been one of only two people to vote for every favorite if I had been voting. That's right -- only one of you voted for every favorite.

The surprises here were mostly what shows came closest to defeat. They were Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5. Is that because Dexter and Eureka are head and shoulders above the other underdogs? The leading vote-getter isn't a shock to me: it was The X-Files. Only one person failed to vote for it, and that person abstained in the matchup. Perhaps Firely shouldn't be regarded as the favorite any longer.

Since I didn't speak to it before round 1, I'm counting those votes (the last edits came before the voting closed). From here on out, I'm not looking for or counting those votes. Lateralus voted for American Idol. That actually does mean that LOST got the same number of votes for, but it actually got a vote against unlike The X-Files.

Ah, it didn't occur to me that people would be editing their play-in round posts to reflect new votes. With my settings at 40 posts per page it meant that all of the this past round was on page 2 and I never went back to page 1.
