Chris Allport Dead

I had to look him up and see who he played. He was Pete's dad.

I wonder if this will alter Pete's storyline for season 2? Pete definitely had some issues with his dad.

Wow, just wow! I'm through the first 3 episodes via iTunes and I can't get enough. I'll continue the series on AMC since it's being rebroadcast.

Jadzia, your enthusiasm for this show is catching on. I'm insisting that my husband watch the pilot. I have a suspicion that he'll love this show as well.

I was going to watch it on demand but they only had episodes 2,4,5,6, and 7 or something to that extent. What's the point of even putting them on there?

This is a fantastic show. As I've said before, that moment in the finale, the presentation to Kodak, might be my favorite moment during any tv show, ever.

Ok, I'm up to episode ten now and this show is blowing me away. The story is engrossing, but this show (like The West Wing) has these great little character moments that will make you feel like you're floating on air or break your heart. I'm just loving how this season is unraveling.

boredsilly 01-29-08 08:21 PM

One other thing - I'm not the kind of tv viewer that notices how a show is shot. It all generally looks the same to me, but Mad Men has some really great direction. Some of the scene compositions really heighten the shows drama.

I'm catching the re-airing too based on the word of mouth - have watched the first 2 eps so far. I could watch this just based on how they capture the period, which is what initially got me hooked on American Dreams.

If only there was AMCHD though.

On my cable system (Cox) we have AMCHDOD (that was long, let me try that again). We have AMC-HD-OD. Currently watching BreakinG Bad and hoping they put Mad Men up soon.

I am so excited - I just read in TV Guide that AMC has a deal with the WGA so that the second season of Mad Men will not be affected by the strike!

Just finished the latest reairing of S1; cheated and downloaded the last 2 eps off Itunes. Fantastic show. Great characters, dialogue, and the costuming and backgrounds are so well done.

And don't feel bad...I have a girl-crush on Christina Hendricks. Va Va Voom!
She is something else, particularly in that fashion of the period.

S1 is due out on DVD July 1. Pretty cool packaging too:

Anybody know when the S2 premiere is? And for pete's sake, it better be aired in HD on AMCHD.

The Bus 04-11-08 09:09 AM

Now that I get AMCHD, I hope this re-airs.

Septemberbaby 04-11-08 09:30 AM

I think they're starting it all over again.. I noticed on my To Do list that the first episode is airing on the 21st. I think it airs at midnight Sunday into Monday.

Red Dog 04-11-08 09:37 AM

So maybe one more re-airing and then the S2 premiere coming right out of that? If that's the case, then it would be a mid-late July premiere.

Geofferson 04-30-08 11:53 AM

Is it confirmed that AMC is re-airing S1 of Mad Men? I see that episode 2 aired this past Sunday, but do not see any further episodes airing on their schedule.

Question about the season 1 finale:

Spoiler:
How the fuck could she not know/understand that she was pregnant - especially at 9 months? I mean, sure, she thought she just gained weight, which can disguise a pregnancy, but c'mon.

As unreal as it sounds, it happens all the time.

Yeah - I've heard of instances of this as well.

Ditto!

I have been watching this lately...I got one more episode to go (season finale). But up until that, this show has been nothing short of awesome. If I had to compare it (which I hate doing), this is The Sopranos with advertisers. There is so much depth and excellent acting/writing, it slays almost everything else.

Also, I am looking forward to the Blu-ray release of the first season.

Bring on Season 2!
