Transformers: Animated---Debuts Saturday on Cartoon Network

Did anyone know about this updated version of the Transformers? The Cartoon Network web site says it debuts this Saturday at 10:30am. However, I read an episode guide that said the 90 minute pilot premiered December 26th.

man, everything is in that teen-titan anime style these days.

so is that all that's going to be shown when they transform? a little hurricane like graphic? No parts moving or anything? that's kind of lame.

This looks really really bad. I am staying away from this and sticking with the Michael Bay movie(s) and classic cartoon. Ugh.

That's the worst Optimus Prime I've seen since Bay's version.

I watched one commercial for this and deemed it horrible

*sticks it in the vault that contains the growing list of sucky new transformers shows*

I think it'll fit nicely on the shelf next to the Transformers movie (I also have a space for the next TF movie as well)

I'm not digging the moving mouths on these new Transformers.

It would have been nice if they got Peter Cullen to do Prime's Voice for this animated series, but I guess he's probably only contracted to do the feature films.

I already set my Tivo to record the 1st airing on Saturday and I will see how it goes from there.

I did notice on that preview that it appears they got the original actor that voiced Starscream from the original series.

I haven't watched it but I heard positives about it if you can stand the Teen Titans-like art style. Me, I like Teen Titans but I don't think that style translates into making Optimus Prime a badass.

I also set my tivo to record it, but it seems like we missed the premiere, and it doesn't appear to be in the lineup to re-air.

i could tell from that 3-minute clip that i am going to HATE bumblebee.

I had to sit through and suffer this because my son wanted it put on dvd. Not very impressed. My son loved it so I can see this thing sticking around for the lang haul.(UGGHHHH!!)
Oh well. Now If they had done a cartoon with decent animation using the Transformers Classics line as their base models then I might get excited over that!

Take care all!!

How many Optimus Primes have you seen since Bay's version?

No, that's not the case. The original voice of Starscream, Chris Latta, died in 1994.

Yeah let me rephrase that: It's the worst Prime ever! Bay's version is the second worst.

Okay I just finished watching it and IMO that was brutal. I'm not digging the animation style at all. Also, Optimus Prime simply doesn't work without Peter Cullen's voice. Bumble Bee is so fricking annoying and that little girl sidekick Sari? makes me miss Spike and his father.

Maybe it's because I'm a grown man now, but I felt this was more designed for someone under 10 years old. The original 1980's cartoon feels a little more timeless and ageless.

I'll give it 1 more week and if it doesn't get better I'm dropping this.

Didn't even know there was a new series coming out. I haven't liked anything since the original (no I didn't like Beast Wars) and I think the last one I saw, Robots in Disguise maybe, was brutal.

They should redo the entire orignal series in CG similar to Beast Wars. They even put in a little taste of what that would have been like in one of the episodes.

Agreed on all points. Maybe the pilot was better but goddamn that was such a bastardized version it made me want to puke. The animation style is horrendous. I found little to like.

The only positive is that was already said, that sounds so much like the original voice of Starscream.

Also, since when did Prowl become a motorcycle? He was a police car in the original series and feature film.

my goodness, this was Stupendously BRUTAL. it is obviously geared towards kids - The transformers having a sleepover? but i'm not sure i'd even want a kid to watch it. They'd get progressively dumber.

And since they're transformers and all, shouldn't they maybe, um, transform once in a while?

and the animation - good lord. it's generally not my style, but i can at least sit through a full episode of teen titans. but this was so much worse. and didn't make sense. how can a robot blush? And sweat?

I'm still trying to figure out the "Animated" tag. Do they think that people only know Transformers from the movie and have no idea there was a cartoon before, let alone numerous ones?

My 4 year old said it sucked and changed the channel five minutes in, case closed.

I've seen the 90 minute "movie" and I thought the biggest problem was that they tried to duplicate the "look" of Teen Titans in this new series. No thanks.
