The false build up/reveal to commercial cutaways are VERY annoying.

Definitely a record-and-watch-so-you-can-skip-past-the-commercials show.

What's with all the complaints about commercials? Doesn't everybody have a Tivo or DVR with their satelite or cable service at this point?

I liked the show, although I'm used to watching Jeopardy everyday and found most of the questions way too easy. Definately much better than mindless shows like Deal or No Deal or Power of 10.

Biggest laugh of the night - The ex-Mensa member, who's husband is Jewish, and DIDN'T get the question about Santa's reindeers and days in Hanukkah. Ha! Turn in your Mensa card. Oh, she already did!!!

The LOST preview was so long, I'm surprised ABC didn't stick in more commericals during the preview.

Did John Locke's "If you want to live, come with me." remind anyone of TERMINATOR ("Come with me if you want to live")?

Can't these shows find interesting contestants who aren't fucking idiots?

I gotta say, this is pretty bad. I don't watch reality shows, game shows, or anything like that. However I decided to catch this because I listen to Greeny and Golic's M&MIM show in the mornings on the way to work and sometimes steam it online in the morning, so I tuned in.

It's hard to watch. Too little happening. Very slow moving, suspense built doesn't work, the people are stupid (who DOESN'T know that it takes 8minutes xseconds for light to get from the sun to the earth? FWIW, my science book in school taught 7mins 23 seconds), too many comercials, and Greeny just isn't that good. He's stiff, monotone, and is much better on the radio. I'll continue watching because it's over after Sunday (at least if ABC doesn't green light it for more), but it's up there with AI, Survivor, Deal or No Deal and other reality/game shows I don't care about.

Agreed. Everybody knows that it's German Shepherds who were bred to herd cats. It's right in the name of the dog!

The one that infuriated me was the carbon monoxide question. They gave the answer IN THE QUESTION!

Yep. It was the only reason Duel was worth watching.

I really liked it.

What I don't get is why people are bragging how smart they are in their intros (2 fullbright scholarships, smartest hillbilly out there)... I want the person that's making the choice to think I'm dumb as a log so that they pick me

What was odd about the guy with the two scholarships was that he's now a telemarketer.

This has gotten painful. How could Hillbilly lose to Bellydancer?

Does it seem like the pace of this show picked up greatly last night? It appeared to me that they got through about 4 times as many questions than in the past.

Yes, now that the show is only an hour (as opposed to 90 minutes) there's a lot less "filler".

Wasn't too bad tonight (Thursday), because the duels were short. Kinda annoying most contestants have a sentimental "personal story" or a surprise super-genius revelation.

I thought it was funny when that umpire was being a jackass and making kissy faces to the nurse, and then he went out on the first question.

"Well she should know, she's a micro-biologist."

The audience actually booed him.

Oh, how I hated the umpire.

"Bikini! C'mon! It's an atoll in Micronesia!"

Whatever happened to the good old days when a contestant gave his name, family info, hometown, and then shut the heck up and just played the game? I don't need contestants with personality, because they're mostly annoying.

It was sweet to see the arrogant umpire lose right after he made that wisecrack.

Which empire? Roman? Ottoman? Byzantine? British? Some of them were pretty cool and not so douchey.

Well, that was anticlimactic. The final duel ended in one question. I was happy to see that the finalists were the two least annoying of the bunch.
