Smallville and Lost back to back.
|
I'm surprised that Big Shots is.
It'll be interesting to see how Lost does against CSI repeats, which usually do pretty well. |
there is only three episodes of big shots left and I think they are burning them off in Jan after pulling Big Shot off the schedule in December. I think the show is as good as dead.
|
LOST on Thursdays at 9pm?? That timeslot is already overloaded with good shows!
|
But "Lost" is one of the only ones that will have fresh episodes for the time being. Smart move by ABC.

They would if not for the strike. They need all the new programming they can get.
|
So, with only 8 episodes, Lost will essentially be before by April. That sucks!
I am looking forward to Eli Stone to see the return of Victor Garber and I'm glad that managed to complete their entire 13 episode order. |
Oh noes! Lost, CSI and the Office all on at the same time? Fuck, my DVR can't handle that. What are they thinking?
I guess the Office will get bumped to the SD Tivo. |

Carpoolers
I am guessing Dirty Sexy Money will air its last three episodes before Cashmere Mafia takes over on Feb. 27th? -pray- I hope they don't leave this wonderful show high and dry seeing as they have new episodes to show. Looks like I'll be watching Boston Legal, Carpoolers and Lost and giving Eli Stone a try. |
Hey, nice to see Carpoolers back on the schedule.
|
|
Nice to see this thread clogged up with news about so many other shows I have zero interest in....... -wink-
Since it's the only show I watch on TV from week to week I am certainly excited about the show coming back soon but I a not looking forward to a huge gap in the season yet again. |

I wouldn't be surprised if the strike resolves and LOST is moved again. But mainly, I'm just glad it's back. 8 episodes are better than nothin', and they're gonna be back-to-back. Part of me is seeing this earlier than expected premiere date as a sign that ABC hopes the strike will resolve and the 4th season can air during the 2008 Sept-May time period, with maybe a week or two grace period to allow the production to catch up (16 episodes straight with a 2-hour finale in the last week of sweeps was only going to work with a Feb 13th-ish premiere). |
I think it's going to be a huge challenge for them to catch up if the strike gets resolved by January or February. They are 8 weeks ahead, but most of the cast and crew have returned to LA and it would take at least 6-8 weeks to re-set up production in Hawaii and then start filming again. Then, they would need to get at least 6 episodes filmed before they could air......The window to get everything done by May is getting smaller and smaller.
I think they should forget the remaining 8 episodes for this season and save them for 2009 for a 24 episode 5th season. BTW, you all should check out the documentary "Lost in a Day" on the season 3 DVD. It explains great detail about how the episodes are shot and the time frame to get everything ready to hit air. Great viewing. |

Great viewing. Given that the cast and crew usually have a month off around this time of year, even in a regular 22-episode season, I'd say the situation isn't as dire as you describe. The ramping up of production isn't going to be the big problem, it's the production of scripts. But I suppose the other option is to have 4.01-4.08 air this season, and 4.09-4.16 air from September 2008 in consecutive weeks. Then have a break, produce the Season 4 DVD for December release as per usual and return in February '09 for 16 straight in Season 5. |
hmm annoying that it is on one day later but glad to see it back at 9pm instead of 10pm and also didn't realize it would be back 1/31 (I was thinking late Feb for some reason). Cool.

Would they just release the 8 episodes for S4 and save the other 8 for S5? If they try to put the 8 spring 2008 episodes and the 8 fall 2008 episodes in the S4 set, they probably wouldn't be able to finish it in time to be able to sell it during the holiday season next year. Even getting it out before the premiere of S5 (as they are wont to do) could be challenging. |
