Cancelled shows for 2007-08 TV season

Here's what's been canned so far:

Nashville (FOX)

Viva Laughlin (CBS)

Just announced today:
Big Shots (ABC)

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...87691ac57bd6c9

I really feel bad for Jon Harmon Feldman, the creator of Big Shots, he's had 3 shows that have failed in less than 5 years (Tru Calling, Reunion) and now Big Shots. I wonder if he'll get another shot to create another show.

Patman 12-11-07 10:10 AM

That's too bad about Big Shots, though I think I have a backlog of 2 episodes that I just never got to in the last few weeks (it being on Thursday, it never quite rated "must see this week TV").

Groucho 12-11-07 10:10 AM

I didn't even know there was a show called Big Shots on ABC.

Heh, me neither. I always feel bad for shows that get cancelled that clearly never even got promoted to the public enough that we hear about them here. :)

Really? I thought this show was already gone. It was trashed by critics. Technically Anchorwoman was launched for the 2007 TV season too...

DJariya 12-11-07 10:39 AM

It wasn't really one of the their better promoted shows, actually it hardly got any promotion at all. I think I've seen more promos for Samantha Who? Dancing with the Stars and Private Practice than this show.

Even October Road, who IMO didn't deserve a 2nd season, is getting heavily promoted right now even at barely over 5M viewers a week.

There canceling shows when there is nothing new being made? Interesting.

Yeah, but these shows aren't being made either.

But Big Shots has atleast 3 episodes done that haven't aired.

I knew the cancellation of Big Shots was coming. With no promotion and it has only been on what once during the last month. :( Great cast too!

They pushed the male bonding a little too much but Big Shots had its good moments.

Jadzia 12-11-07 01:40 PM

They gave Big Shots the plum post-Grey's Anatomy slot; that was promotion enough. I thought it was a pretty bad show and I quickly dropped it.

WallyOPD 12-11-07 02:02 PM

I liked the first episode of Big Shots but haven't seen the rest yet. I've been stockpiling them on my DVR to be used during the strike.

It just goes to show that using hit shows as lead-ins for unproven shows doesn't seem to work anymore. Another example would be Journeyman always losing half of Heroes audience.

Except when crappy shows do well only because of the time slot (see October Road) and then when they get moved no one watches.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! That was a fun show. It had a lot of eye candy too.

I don't think so, expecially when the 2 target audiences don't really mix. The show would have been better off on Wednesdays with DSM or Sundays with DH.

To each his own I guess. For me it was a fun show and for you it wasn't.

fujishig 12-11-07 02:54 PM

I thought they promoted Big Shots a ton before the first episode aired... not so much after that, though.

I wonder when Bionic Woman's gonna be announced? Talk about over-promotion for a mediocre (at best) show.

I think that was one of the problems with Big Shots, though: who was the target audience? It was kind of done like a chick Sex & the City type show, but had male characters. ABC skews heavily female what with Grey's and DH and I am not sure if the female audience really could relate to the show. And it seemed too fluffy to appeal to a heavily male audience. I think it was just a hard sell from the get-go.

I was kind of hoping they would have given that slot to Dirty Sexy Money, but that show has done well on Wednesdays after Private Practice. The expectations might have been too great after Grey's Anatomy.

Damn, I really liked seeing Christopher Titus on TV again. FUFUFUFUFU ABC!

boogieman03 12-11-07 04:01 PM

That's a shame, as I enjoyed watching it.

uteotw 12-11-07 06:38 PM

Can't be long until 24 is officially cancelled, can it?

What the hell are you talking about? 24 is on hiatus until the strike is resolved and Kiefer Sutherland gets out of the slammer. FOX has already green lighted Season 7 (currently on hold) and Season 8.

I wonder if Court TV will pick up Tru Calling?

critterdvd 12-11-07 11:41 PM

"October Road" and "Life is Wild" can't be far behind...

I'm kinda hoping that "Private Practice" moves to Thursdays @ 10 permanently, so that I don't have to record it in my bedroom so I can watch it as well as "gossip girl"
