Of courseMy little sister was a big fan. It wasn't yet on the air when I was young enough to enjoy it.

I remember all those. I even watched a show called "Vegetable Soup" in the 70's which was on CBS where I lived. It was very similar to what PBS was putting out but dealt with social issues on a kid's level. They even had a cool serial in the series called "Joey" which was dead on the same story as "Karate Kid".

all I remember is

The show/album/book I really remember from that period was FREE TO BE YOU AND ME. I think I listened to that album and flipped through the book every single day. I haven't heard the songs for probably 25-30 years, but I still know all the words.

anyways -- I used to watch a PBS show that my brother and I would call 'The Big Ant Show'.....The big ant was actually the name of the show in cursive, turned on its side and had a mirror image - It kinda looked like a big ant (It may have been called the 'Big ant show - but I was little and I dont know for sure) ... I have no idea if this bit of description will trigger any memories, but Ive been trying to find anything about this show for years

We were forced to watch that show in class every friday in 3rd or 4th grade. I remember even at that age being annoyed by the hippies. I guess I was destined to be a cop.

I actually wrote into Zoom as a kid. I'm sure that they read my letter on the one episode that I missed. I'm sure of it. :mad:

I remember the show well but never watched the DVD I bought years ago. I remember the song for Big Blue Marble too.

I loved Zoom, it was probably #4 for me right after the big three mentioned in the first post.

I also watched The Big Blue Marble, but I'm not familiar with those others.

The African American girl from early 3-2-1 Contact eps (Robin but her real name was Judie) moved in next door to my Grandmother about 10 years ago. They apparantly kicked her off the show when she got pregnant!

Anyone remember Hodgepodge Lodge? I think the theme song ended with some kid saying "Well...maybe not elephants."

Loved the Great Space Coaster with Mean Joe Green and Gary Gnu.

OMG I just clicked on the Vegetable Soup video! I remembered every word! Crazy how the mind works!

I was born in 1977. None of those songs or shows seem familiar to me. I do remember "3 2 1 Contact," although I think they still aired that show into the '80s.

That Vegetable Soup animation used to scare me when I was a kid. Even watching the intro today, I was getting chills. :(

The Big Blue Marble was NOT on PBS. It was syndicated.

What about Villa Alegre? THAT was on PBS in that time frame.

I used to love 3-2-1 Contact, and if Im not mistaken, I don't think the Letter People was a show by itself, but part of 3-2-1 Contact... I used to love the letter people just because we had some kind of curriculum by them in 1st grade.

Man, I *loved* 3-2-1 Contact... especially "The Bloodhound Gang"!

OK, I've been looking for the name of a 70s PBS show for ages, but it seems as if PBS only made the show for my elementary school - no one else I've ever asked about it seems to remember it at all:

It was called "SOMETHING & Butterflies", where SOMETHING is a word that's been lost to my memory. It was your typical PBS "what would YOU do?" show, where they'd have a little story, then the screen would freeze, and your teacher was supposed to talk to the class about what just happened and ask how kids in the class would react in a similar situation.

But here's the thing, though: it was a bit surreal. I remember one episode where a little Hispanic kid (the show was "ethnically balanced" in that 70s PBS kind of way) was asked by his grandfather to help him paint a chicken coop. The kid wanted to help his grandpa, but also has a daydream where he's covered in paint and chicken feathers, and all the kids from his school surround him in a circle and laugh at him. The camera work during all this was really surreal, and there was calliope music in the background that got louder and faster as the camera spun ever faster around in a circle.

There was another episode where a group of friends - since this was 70s PBS, it was a Hispanic boy, black boy, a white girl and an Asian girl - were walking down a street when they passed by an abandoned warehouse. One of the boys wants to go inside and check it out, and the other have a discussion about whether it's the right thing to do. The boy eventually convinces the other to go in, and after a few minutes in the warehouse (which looked like something out of the Saw movies), someone falls and gets seriously hurt, and the rest of the kids try to help. I can't remember what happens next, but I think the fire department shows up and saves the kid.

Anyway... I know it sounds silly, but I've been trying to remember the name of this show for years. I don't obsess over it or anything, but I *do* think of the show several times a year and try my damnest to remember the name of it... only to come up blank. If ANYONE remembers the name of it, I'd be forever in your debt. It would resolve one of the great mysteries of my life, right up there with what happened to those car keys I lost back in 1994! ;)

What was the show with the dude in the body suit that showed all his organs and stuff? And he would talk about how the body worked?

Also was the talking skeleton in 3-2-1 Contact?
