Shreck the Halls

Is anybody else watching this? I think it's probably one of the worst things I've ever seen and it's ruined Christmas.

Brent L 11-28-07 07:38 PM

Now that's what I call a review.

Stick that on the DVD case and I'd buy it for sure.

Jason 11-28-07 07:40 PM

Well, it was better than the Star Wars Holiday Special, mostly because it was only a half hour long.

firteen88 11-28-07 08:33 PM

This special ruined Christmas for me...and I'm Jewish

FantasticVSDoom 11-28-07 08:38 PM

Eh, it wasnt that bad... Nothing great, but wasnt expecting it to be.

RocShemp 11-28-07 08:45 PM

It was amusing. Like FantasticVSDoom said, nothing great but it wasn't that bad.

RichardW 11-28-07 08:49 PM

My family and I enjoyed it, so I would purchase it if released on DVD or HD DVD.

Eric D. 11-28-07 09:09 PM

I wasn't expecting much, so I wasn't let down.

WillieTheShakes 11-28-07 10:42 PM

I found it very enjoyable - completely in keeping with the tone of the movies, and a pleasant enough start to the season.

Tom Banjo 11-29-07 04:16 AM

The stuff with the gingerbread man was funny, everything else pretty much sucked.

About what I thought.

When I read comments from ABC about how they "have something special" and want to make it an annual event, I thought it might actually be good.

GuessWho 11-29-07 07:10 AM

They lost me at the farting during Night Before Christmas

Groucho 11-29-07 07:48 AM

Gingy's story was hilarious.

DRG 11-29-07 10:20 AM

I thought Shrek 3 was crap... a huge step down from Shrek 2, so it doesn't surprise me this turned out poorly as well.

TheNightFlier 11-29-07 11:49 AM

I didn't have high expectations for it. I thought it was alright.

I'm still so mad about Shrek 3 I refused to watch this. So was the Christmas special better or worse than that crappy movie that should've gone straight to video?

rfduncan 11-29-07 12:25 PM

I think the OP watched a different program. Shrek the Halls was great! ;)

Xander 11-29-07 12:30 PM

I thought it was pretty good. Wasn't expecting a new Xmas classic. Kept me entertained for 22 minutes. :)

twikoff 11-29-07 01:54 PM

ruined christmas :lol::up:

That's funny, ABC told me it was the new Xmas event for years to come... I skipped it.

Gambit 11-29-07 03:35 PM

The scene with the Gingerbread Man saying "I don't feel so good" was funny.

movieking 11-29-07 07:27 PM

I kinda liked it

jonw9 11-29-07 07:49 PM

I laughed a couple of times, again mostly about Gingy. I loved when he was talking to the angel cookie, asking about falling from Heaven.

The majority of the show was "meh" and I was glad it was only half an hour.

Snowmaker 11-30-07 07:17 AM

It was OK. It felt very rushed, like it was cut down from an hour episode.

Loved Puss' telling of the story and then getting distracted by the dangly ball hanging from his hat.

Joeboo835 11-30-07 11:37 AM

my kids loved it, thats about all that matters. It was average at best for me. Gingy and Pinochio were hilarious.

 My favorite...

I thought Shrek the Halls was actually pretty good. Does it rank with the likes of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or How the Grinch Stole Christmas? No, no it doesn't, but it was a solid 22 minutes of an X-mas special and I'd watch it again, I'd buy the DVD release as well.

Maybe it wasn't "memorable", but it was funny and the Gingy bits where definitely the best parts of the show.

mdc3000 11-30-07 09:00 PM

This was actually a pleasant surprise. I HATED Shrek The Third with a passion, but thought this special wasn't half bad. This should have been the third movie instead :)

CPA-ESQ. 12-03-07 09:04 AM

What were those dragon things?

I liked the episode - I guess I just liked when everyone started dancing

I am truly surprised that they got the whole cast.

Chew 12-03-07 09:22 AM

Rather shocking that EW gave this an A-!

Joe Schmoe 12-03-07 10:40 PM

I liked Shrek's Night Before Xmas story at the end. And the 3 Pigs: "So we are pigs in a blanket, ya?" "This is funny, ya?"

hotsexyboi 12-03-07 10:43 PM

I love Shrek but I didn't watch it because I do not own part 2 or 3 of the movies on DVD even though I know this TV special probably didn't follow the movie storylines but still I didn't watch it, Although it sounds bad from the reviews so I might have to check it out sometime if they play it again or release it on DVD...LOL!

That was my favorite part of the special, I totally LOL at that bit, so true about cats, especially how P-n-B's eyes got all big and distracted.

+1. Basically wraps up my feelings a well.

mphtrilogy 12-04-07 07:49 AM

Had some good laughs, it certainly holds its own for a half-hour christmas special, and it was at least impressive that they got all the real vocal talent back as opposed to imitations at this point, especially for a TV special. We could have had much much worse.

Very watchable

Actually, they were introduced at the end of Part 2.
