Food Network: Emeril LIVE is Canceled
Story
Food Network canceling `Emeril Live' By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 33 minutes ago The celebrity chef's "Emeril Live," which has been on the air for 10 years, will cease production Dec. 11, Food Network publicist Carrie Welch told The Associated Press. "However, Emeril is under contract with Food Network," Welch said Tuesday. "We love him, we support him and look forward to a long partnership with him." Welch wouldn't comment on Lagasse's contract. Asked why the show was canceled, she told the AP: "The only reason would be that it hit a ton of television milestones and, you know, all good things come to an end." The Food Network will continue producing Lagasse's "The Essence of Emeril," and he will take part in "specials and other development opportunities in the future," Welch said. The network will also air reruns of "Emeril Live." "I am deeply appreciative to all the unbelievable staff — many who have been with the show since the beginning — and all the loyal viewers, and the many talented guests who have appeared on the show through the years," Lagasse, 48, said in a statement provided by Welch. "I look forward to continuing my association with the Food Network with `The Essence of Emeril,' and I have lots of new ideas cooking," he said. ___ Food Network is owned by Scripps Networks, a division of The E.W. Scripps Company. ___ Emeril is only 48? I thought he was much older. |
Bam!
|
Maybe they'll bring his sitcom back? (shudder)
|
That sucks!

But where will people that like to cheer at the mere mention of a name of a food go now?
|
I was talking to my mom just this weekend and asked her if this show was still on the air. Haven't thought it about in probably a year before that.
|
"The only reason would be that it hit a ton of television milestones and, you know, all good things come to an end." Too bad it got canned I was watching it more often since they started showing it an hour earlier. |
It was getting pretty ridiculous when the crowd started cheering and Woooo Hoooing when he would throw salt or black pepper on a dish.
|
Wow, this was the first show I watched when Food Network finally got to us, they would play it several times a day. I haven't watched it in years though as I found some other shows on the channel much more interesting (Good Eats), shows that actually featured recipes that I would make (Paula Dean), and shows for the pure eye candy (Everyday Italian).
|
I'm sad to see Emeril go. He basically made FoodNetwork with his watchability. Though I wouldn't eat just about anything he makes. Good Eats and Throwdown is probably my two favorites right now. When I'm home for lunch I'll watch The Barefoot Contessa (I like to watch cooking shows when I'm eating).
|
I didn't even know they were still making new episodes of this show. Everytime I see it on Food Network, the episodes are dated (2002, 2003, 2004) etc. Never seen a fresh episode of this.
|
I wonder if something is going on. Didn't Mario Batelli (sp?) recently have his show cancelled as well, Malto Mario or something.
|
As long as Alton and Giada stay on the air, I'm perfectly happy.
|
Damn. I was hoping it was bobblehead Giada or Big Ego Flay would be the next one.

FoodTV needs to come up with a classic channel for many cooking shows they have ditched in favor of whatever they are doing now. Certainly the focus is no longer the food and cooking it. Its boring stories, boring personalities and reality TV based on food.
Anything Alton Brown does is golden. Besides that...meh to the FoodTV. ( I know its now Food Network but I long for the FoodTV days B.R.R. before Rachael Ray) Which is why I presume that they are getting rid of the foundation that Emeril is to make way for this 'new wave' of sheer boredom when it comes to cooking and cooking personalities. I say bring back the following somehow on one channel and I'd certainly be watching: Two Fat Ladies Naked Chef Nigella Bites Julia Child Martin Yan - Yan Can Cook Justin Wilson - Louisiana Cookin' The Galloping Gourmet The Frugal Gourmet The 'Great Chefs' series Iron Chef -Japan ver. Classic Emeril shows Sarah Moulton |
You mention boring personalities and then wish for a channel with Sarah Moulton?
I actually like most of the hosts on the show now. Giada Alton Brown Paula Deen The Hamptons chick (Barefoot Contessa) Sandra Lee Nigella Lawson Bobby Flay Mario Battali (only when he's actualy cooking) Micheal Chiarella I do miss Ming Tsai though. |
Emeril: Now I'm going to add some water! BAM!
Crowd: Hooray!!! (cheering and clapping) -ohbfrank- Got over Emeril a LONG time ago. Same with Rachel Ray, who is referred to as BFJ (big fat Joker) in our house. Still love watching Alton. Watch Paula from time to time too. And the Secret Life of. That's about it. |

Well she is at the bottom of the list :)
Besides she did do a live call in show every weeknight I believe? That takes talent and knowledge. |
Bring back Sissy Biggers and Ready, Set, Cook!
I do like most of the current personalities but especially Alton, Giada, Robert and Bobby. |
Barefoot Contessa sounds sexy and then you got this fat chick on there. That ain't right. Beyond that, I've never been able to watch/stand Emeril, so I will be glad to see him go. The annoying Food Finds jackass and the worthless Dean brothers need the axe as well. I also can't stand that fat rockabilly dude on Diners Dives and Douchebags or whatever it's called. He's totally worthless too.
