"Husbands and Knives"

Pretty great episode. Wonder if Marge owning the gyms will be a continuity thing.

TheNightFlier 11-18-07 07:50 PM

I enjoyed it a lot. Was pretty surprised they got Alan Moore to do some voicework.

Loved the Alan Moore guest spot

Comic Book Guy calling the new guy a fake because he had a girlfriend:lol:

As a comic fan, I liked it parts of it, but no resolution on the gym thing and Comic Book Guy closing down his shop was kind of lame.

Ranger 11-18-07 10:01 PM

Well, it was a good episode but why did the doctor call Marge after he knocked Homer out?

Jackskeleton 11-18-07 10:13 PM

Wow, the lost girls poster in back of Moore was strange. If you aren't much of a comic reader, Lost Girls is pretty much a porn.

It was also strange to see Meltdown comics turned into a cartoon.

The comic-book "B" story was brilliant stuff. I particularly liked Alan Moore reading "Little Lulu" and the spot-on "Tintin" segment.

Shipwreck 11-19-07 08:41 AM

I loved the "For Rent" poster in Comic Book Guy's store after he closed. It was real "Spider-man No More" looking.

And Jack Black's girlfriend "My purse is a lunchbox!"

I don't mind they didn't resolve Marge's success at the end, they can still pretend it never happend by the next episode, or simply explain the whole thing away in a sentence.

I'd be shocked if Marge owning a gym is ever brought up again. The comic book stuff seemed to be aimed at the very serious collector. I can't imagine the average person has ever heard of these guys (FYI I know who they are). Episode was good, but not great.

I think many people have heard of Alan Moore from the Watchmen and V for Vendetta.

Even if they heard the name (and I think very few pay attention to things like that) they wouldn't know anything about it.
Still, I don't think this was any worse than the book fair, or Moe's poetry episodes and their inside jokes.

You are right, the only person I knew was Jack Black.

I liked the Comic Book plot a lot. I remember seeing that Maus comic book way back in the mid - late 80's.

The episode seemed to flow better than previous episodes (who wrote this one?)

I too hope they resolve where the Comic Book guy went to, and what ever became of the gym..

No harm in having the story continue for a couple of episodes before Homer does something, that brings on a law suit and they loose the $ and the business ;)

Really good episode IMO. For some reason, I always confuse Frank Miller and Alan Moore.
