Watching the Today show, Dustin Hoffman appeared promoting his new movie (forgot the name - too long), and Matt Lauer tells him that his new character seems like a combination of Albert Einstein, Christopher Lloyd, and the fictional Willy Wonka.

Dustin replies: "I swear I never saw Willy Wonka (wtf), and never saw Back to The Future... (WTF!)

Now, apparently Hoffman knew enough from living in this world with us that Christopher Lloyd was an actor who starred in Back To The Future, but what could have soooo important in 1985 that you missed out on this fantastic and exciting motion picture?

Weirdo.

I can go up to 10 people today and I PROMISE you that 4 of those people have never seen either movie. My point? Who cares?

Working actors don't get to watch three movies a day like the rest of us. They're aware of what's out there and who's in them, but don't have time to watch them all.

He probably never saw Evil Dead II either ... yet.

He was in Star Wars.

The Godfather
Matrix 2 & 3
American Pie 2
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (however I have seen Search for Spock and Final Contact)
Spinal Tap (only saw about half of it)
48 Hours

That's an amazingly low number of movies you haven't seen. I'd say I haven't seen a full 90% or more of films.

This is heavy.

Actually he might have been working on the TV version of Death of a Salesman that he did which was essentially a recorded "stage" adaptation. (It was adapted from the 1984 Broadway production directed by Michael Rudman starring Dustin Hoffman - so he was on Broadway doing daily performances if not filming the TV version).

There's that word again! "Heavy." Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with Earth's gravitational pull?

How the fuck did American Pie 2 end up on this list? Is this a list of important movies you haven't seen... or literally a list of the 7 movies you've missed?

If it's the latter -- good job. Have a Fresca. (And maybe read a book or get some fresh air.)

An actor who probably spends 16 hours a day on a set and wants to enjoy his time off doesn't watch movies you've seen? OH NOES!!!!

I bet there are plenty of actors in TV who never watch a lot of the TV shows you watch either.

And I know Alan Moore (Watchmen, Swamp Thing, V For Vendetta, among others) has said in interviews before he doesn't really read many comic books. He gets his ideas from sources outside comics. Imagine that.

And I bet I could list 5 movies I've never seen that the majority of the public has seen:
2001 a Space Odyssey (though I plan on rectifying that situation with the new 2 disc SE that came out)
Terminator
Clockwork Orange
Abyss
Godfather

Those are just 5 off the top of my head. And my life goes on in a happy and productive way.

Could be, but it seems when people I know learn I haven't seen them, the response is usually shock and disbelief.
