"The Education of Jaime Sommers" sounds like a porn title.

With all the hate for this show right now, at least it could make some people tune in for this episode.

I can't imagine how Michelle Ryan is going to be able to pull that off. ;)

This show could be good. It suffers from a bad script, with bad acting by the lead actress. She has this annoying walk where she bounces with every step that distracts me. She doesn't strike me as a bad ass by any means.

If I were writing it, this is what I would do.

1. Kill of Jamie Summers, drop the sister from the show.

2. In the process of Jamie dying have the cure given to Sarah.

3. Make Sarah the focal point of the show.

4. Have her portrayed as a conflicted person, fighting for her humanity.

5. Make her the anti-hero.

6. Have her being sought by the good and bad guys. A little Hero show rip.

7. Have her working to actively pursue bad guys and kill them. That would include anyone seedy that worked for the firm that Jamie works for.

8. Have her try to atone for some of her past actions.

That would be an interesting character. Katie S could pull that off easily.

Ahhh I assume we get to hear Michelle Ryan speak in her natural voice tonight.

I'm a little annoyed with all the comments that Michelle Ryan is a "bad actress." What exactly is "bad acting?" It's so subjective in my opinion. There was a poster who said the acting on Journeyman was bad and many others who said the acting was fantastic. Some people thought Powers Boothe was fantastic last season on 24 as the VP and others thought he was so over the top and cartoonish. I think it's hard to make a fair assessment on what is "bad acting" or "good acting." Honestly I don't think she's a bad actress and I think she's brought alot of humanity to playing Jaime.

Ranger 10-24-07 01:19 PM

I like Michelle.

Too bad she's committed to finishing Battlestar Galactica though so it'll never happen unless the show lasts to a second season.

Your ideas fascinate me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. :D

Seriously, though, I am considering dropping Bionic Woman since the show isn't nearly as good as wapervare's imaginary version. Maybe I'll try Pushing Daisies . . .

Pushing Daisies has been fantastic so far, you really should give it a shot. And it's on at 8:00, so it doesn't conflict with Bionic Woman if you still want to watch it.

Didn't they finish shooting BSG already?

Patman 10-24-07 08:48 PM

I sort of wish they would have just let Michelle Ryan use her natual British accent, I like it better because her dialogue delivery is much more fluid and natural.

Ayre 10-24-07 09:03 PM

Oliver from Dawson's Creek. Wow, casting brilliance !!! Was Scott Baio not available?

She did have a different cadence with her accent. Having not seen anything else she has been on, was she using her natural speaking accent or was it a brit variation/dialect?

MadMark 10-24-07 11:40 PM

I loved listening to her natural accent. It's a shame that the creators/writers/network decided to make Jaime an American.

The choreography and editing of the final fight scene was terrible. Chuck, which is mostly a comedy, has better fight scenes.

This show getting bumped next week for a two hour Phenomenon? Seriously, NBC? -ohbfrank-

Ranger 10-25-07 12:19 AM

Dear Michelle,

Forgive me for I have sinned - watched world series and recorded tonight's episode. I did stay up late to just finish watching the episode.

The fight scenes weren't too bad but the editing indeed could be better. Ryan's voice did sound smoother but I'm not sure if it's because of the British thing. It was a decent episode.

It is halloween next wed and maybe ws game six (which probably won't happen).

Not so much bad but wooden acting. Maybe it's the way she is written but the character is not very interesting and the actresses take on it doesn't help matters.

Hey, I just watched Pie-lette and thought it was great! :)

What's it like having your tunnel vision typecasting?

Agreed. I posted in another thread that this season we have all these TV shows with UK actors playing Americans and we never get to hear their wonderful accents. I thought she sounded really good in her 'UK student' role.

The ep was ok, I'll still watch it because it's an entertaining show. One thing I don't think we need is a Romantic interest. Fuck that CIA guy. I mean she barely has time for Burkett and her sister now they're trying to shove some douchebag "hunK" in our faces?

Is dark haired and talentless a casting type?

DJariya 10-25-07 09:51 AM

NBC just hired Jason Cahill to be the new showrunner. I guess he's best known from working on The Sopranos.

Despite it's flaws, I still enjoy this show every week...and I totally agree that Michelle Ryan should use her natural british accent more often...her acting was better and even somehow the tone of her voice sounded better.

Timber 10-25-07 01:24 PM

Do we really need to see the bionic ear in action every week? We get it, she can hear really good, you don't have to show us that it's bionic.

Nice little nod to Conviction though.
