Heads Up: New Scrubs Thur Oct 25th

Caught me completly by surprise. I am not used to seeing it ubtill January so this makes me happy :)

pinata242 10-23-07 08:43 AM

Been looking forward to this for a long time. Very happy that it also means that The Office will be in more tolerable 30-minute sizes.

Sad that this will be the last season of Scrubs, though. :(

Draven 10-23-07 09:14 AM

Sorry to see the hour-long Office episodes go but I'm looking forward to the return.

magi 10-23-07 09:36 AM

I can't believe this is the last season! :( I haven't been reading much of tvtalk lately, has this been announced for a while?

In most Fall Preview line-ups posted online, 10/25 has always been the return date (a.k.a. the end of the hour-long Office episodes). Here's to the beginning of the end! Hope they pull out ALL the stops!

bralph 10-23-07 12:12 PM

Any word on whether it will be in HD?

It is doubtful. I read (here) that they weren't willing to invest in HD since it was the final season. I hope I am wrong.

Big Boy Laroux 10-23-07 12:24 PM

you would think it would be the opposite. final season, give the fans HD.

Michael Corvin 10-23-07 01:11 PM

Nah. I think it's highly doubtful it will be HD.

I think I read Scott Foley will be returning for an episode or two. He has a far better role on the Unit, but I think it will be great seeing him on Scrubs again.

cornflakeguy 10-23-07 01:15 PM

I'm sure to keep it the same for all seasons, they will just go with SD. I mean you have to consider DVD and the syndication folks.

Why throw in a letterboxed, SD version of the last season to confuse the rerun watching populace? ;)

You are not wrong. On the commentaries they have said that the processes they use for the specials effects on the show would be too expensive and screw up their normal filming schedule to do in HD (not to mention make production more expensive on a show that has teetered on cancellation since it premiered). They were grandfathered to be in SD for the entire length of the series. So you will have to settle for "My Transition" (S5 finale) as the one HD episode. It was in fact an experiment to test if producing the show completely in HD was viable.

Well as everyone knows this is a sad year for me; as I think Scrubs is one of the best comedies in years and deserves a lot more respect and appreciation that it gets. It will also be my last year to drool at the sight of Sarah Chalke. Thank god for DVDs and that dream sequence Turk had with Elliot in that Nurse outfit!

I wonder what’s going to take Scrubs place the season after to fill that half hour. I hope to god it isn’t permanent 1 hour episodes of The Office. I love Earl and 30 Rock but I’ve never found The Office laugh out loud hilarious or mildly amusing; the UK version is far superior.

Let’s hope this final season goes out with a bang. I wonder if the ratings will be any higher for this season; 5 million was shameful ratings for such a great series.

Jimmy James 10-23-07 04:24 PM

I'm excited to have the following lineup in effect for a least a short while:

My Name Is Earl
30 Rock
The Office
Scrubs
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

That may be the best streak of 5 half hour shows in first run ever.

I think you may be right.

Don't worry, just wait until about 7 years after the Office goes off the air, then maybe you will get the brilliance it beholds.

What about a year and a half ago?

My Name is Earl
The Office
Scrubs
Arrested Development
Entourage

boredsilly 10-24-07 04:33 AM

For some reason I didn't watch last season at all, but I'm back on board for the last run of the Scrubs crew.

I'm talking about a run of 5 that you can actually watch as they're being broadcast. I can't swear about how it works in other time zones, but the 5 I listed all air for the first time starting at 8 PM and ending at 10:30 PM. You do have to change the channel once, of course.

I don't believe AD and Entourage were airing on Thursdays, but I have to e honest that I forget on what night AD aired and I have never watched Entourage.

 I only made that exception with Seinfeld.

I didn’t say The Office was a horrible, god awful, piece of sh*t; it’s just not that funny for me; some people don’t understand why 30 Rock is a good show; I love it and its rite up their with Scrubs as one of the most laugh out loud shows currently on PTTV.

The Office (UK vr.) probably deserves the title of "brillance" but the US vr. of The Office, Questionable.

Office Space on the other hand...

Entourage has always been on Sunday night.

Arrested Development aired on Sunday its first season and second season. Then moved to Monday in the beginning of S3, moved to Friday on 2/10/06 for a four episode "burn off" to complete the series.

But you're right. Not a 5 run like you mentioned. I'm excited!!!!

Goldberg74 10-24-07 10:21 PM

The Season 6 clip show is on WGN right now. Scrubs has THE best clip shows!

I sure hope they don't make a clip show for this season though.

That would be mean. :(

riley_dude 10-25-07 12:24 AM

What a great Birthday gift.

My lineup on Thursdays is even longer than that.

30 Rock
The Office
Scrubs
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Drawn Together
Daily Show
Colbert Report

Snowmaker 10-25-07 09:14 PM

Great premiere.

Who was the guy playing the patient? I just saw him in something else and can't think of what.
