I'm going to leave out stuff like Bugs Bunny & Popeye because I personally don't view them as television shows, as they were shorts that were originally produced for movie theaters. That said, in no particular order:
Futurama South Park Ren & Stimpy Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends Dr. Katz The Maxx Aeon Flux Batman TAS Family Guy Invader Zim |
Assuming we're taking out the wave of anime that has recently hit our shores, but I'm including older localized Japanese cartoons, because hey, even though I recognized it as anime, for a lot of people it was just a cartoon. Also won't include the shorts, as heavy_liquid pointed out above
Justice League/JLU: I'll group these together. I'm a huge fan of DC characters, and JLU especially brought them in by the boatload. Batman TAS: The beginning of the Timmverse Invader Zim Animaniacs: Toss up between this and Tiny Toons, but I remember more Animaniacs bits. Robotech: People may hate Macek for butchering three distinct Japanese series and making it into one, but he did it to pad out the episode count for syndication, and he didn't do that bad of a job on it. I mean c'mon, check out Macron 1 if you want butchering. Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato, I wish this would come out in the original Japanese, subtitled. Simpsons: haven't watched it for some time, but even if you just take the early seasons, it's a classic, and without it we wouldn't have Futurama or even, IMHO, Family Guy The Smurfs: C'mon, it's the smurfs. Haven't seen this in years, and I have no idea how it would hold up today. Gargoyles: I liked the fact that not only was this made by Disney, but they did a serialized story. Duck Tales: Not only were most of the early stories based on the incredible Barks and Rosa comic books, but it seemed to be the start of Disney-character-based tv series. A lot of the series I liked as a kid in the 80's were largely toy-driven (He-man, GI Joe, Transformers) and while I love them (and the toys) to this day, I'll leave them out. Also this is mostly a list of stuff that first aired while I was old enough to enjoy them... Rocky and Bullwinkle almost made the cut, but I was too young at the time to really get a lot out of them. |
I don't think I have 10, but I'll try (in no order):
1) Transformers 2) GI Joe 3) Futurama 4) Family Guy 5) South Park (only for 1 year though) 6) Little Einsteins (that's for my daughter) 7) Star Wars: Clone Wars Can't really think of others I enjoy. |

Wasn't it the Mighty Orbots? It was an odd show, because the designs were copied from the Japanese series Godmars, but it was a brand new series. I thought that they'd at least release a modified Godmars toy or something, but they never did.
