YARMAST (Yet Another Recommend Me A Series Thread)

I've been using my mornings on the train to watch television series my wife has no interest in. As I wind down BSG S3, I need another series.

My favorite shows (no order): Shield, Nip/Tuck, RM, 24, PB, Heroes, Buffy, BSG, Office, etc.

I was thinking of the following: Angel (never seen an ep), FNL and HIM.

Definitely willing to listen to other ideas. Got about 6 eps of BSG left (sucks, that show is amazing), so I need something else.

Mad Men is available from ITunes.

Best new show I have seen in some time, and there are several train scenes.

I love this show so much.

How is the Wire? My friend said it was really good but I have no idea what it's about.

I might do this one as well. I like series with a continuing storyline. My buddy tells me daily that I'm missing out by not watching the wire.

Baltimore cops struggling to stay ahead of the drug trade using inferior surveillance equipment (at least during the 1st season). It's a spectacular show. IMO, if you like The Shield, you'll love The Wire.

You can't go wrong watching Angel next, either. You might also check out Lost, or, if you want to go old school, try Twin Peaks.

Two series I HIGHLY recommend.

It may not fall in line with the type of shows you watch, but, I can say that my favorite show from last season, and continuing into this season, is Brothers and Sisters. Amazing cast, excellent writing, and just the right mix of drama and comedy!

It's been over for a while, but, if you didn't catch it when it was on, you should check out OZ. It is so not my type of show, but, I really enjoyed it when it was on HBO.

Dirty Sexy Money. It's really well written and has some of the most interesting characters that will really give the show places to go in the future. On top of that Peter Krause and Donald Sutherland really know what they are doing and it's refreshing to watch such talented actors playing off each other.

RM? PB?

If you enjoyed Buffy, definitely watch Angel. Also Serenity.

If you enjoyed the charcacter interactions and banter on Buffy, you might want to check out Gilmore Girls. It's soapy, but a very fun show.

Deep Space 9 -- even if you're not a Star Trek fan, this show is a cut above the rest (I know our esteemed moderater will back me up here)

It's brand new -- only 3 episodes so far -- but I'm really enjoying Pushing Daisies, which is from the same guy who created Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls, so check those shows out, too.

Good call, those are correct (but I've seen those abbreviations plenty of times, and hey, my fellow TV geek got it right the first time!)

I'm a big fan of OZ, but that's a good rec. I don't want to get into too many shows that are ongoing (like DSM and B&S) because I don't want to add anything to my DVR schedule.

I think that The Wire wins out. BSG ends this week for me

If you like Oz and the Wire, check out H:LOTS (that's Homicide: Life on the Street)

I should have been able to figure those two out on my own, but I resorted to browsing through TVShowsOnDVD's show list for those two letters to find them. Until I came upon the right ones my working theories were Real McCoys and Paddington Bear.

If Buffy is one of your faves, might as well watch Angel and Firefly. I don't think Angel is better like some people do, but it's still a great show, as is Firefly.

I'd say The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street, although I don't watch either of those.

I would recommend Lost.

I can't believe I didn't add Lost to my list of favorites, considering I've been posting spoilers every week for two years in the threads!
