A really solid episode from a character development standpoint. Plotwise it kind of bounced all over the place, especially with it cutting back and forth from Michael's evening job to Pam and Jim on Dwight's farm during daylight hours. But they did a great job humanizing people like Jan and Dwight, even Daryl.
Michael calling Stanley from his 2nd job was my favorite moment. And yes, Michael was spot on with his Die Hard 4 commentary. |
The Powerpoint meeting was the best scene of the season so far. 'Okay. I have to register, apparently. I should update. Estimated time, 12 to 15 minutes. So, five to 10 minutes.' rotfl I about lost it in that scene.

I would be Chief of Surgery in your country... or a cowboy. |
Darrell said something funny to Kelly. Something like "you need to access you un-crazy side."
The short clip of Andy trying to box the cat was good also. |
Michael singing runaway train on the train was great.

My wife pointed out that that was the exact same cat that Dwight tried to give Angela in a previous episode.

I thought this was a great episode, the best in awhile. It was great to see a few overnight scenes outside the office, while the flow from Michael's second job and the bed-and-breakfast to the next morning worked smoothly. As some of you guys mentioned earlier, several great character moments even rivaled Season 2. It'll be interesting to see how the half-hour episodes feel from here on out.

best of the season

" I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!"
That was my biggest LOL moment. Though, I had to explain it to my wife afterward. :D I also loved Mose chasing after Jim and Pam's car when they first arrived at the farm. |

 Andy's stance at Pam's desk; the "whoever/whomever" debate

Between Dwight clutching Angela's cherub figurine and the whole scene on the stairwell I just about teared up watching this one. Most impressive episode(s) of the season by far. |

PowerPoint: "Just click on the Start button and up pops the toolbar that's what she said." Genius. |
I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with Andgela

Killer episode. If only the other hour-longs had been this good! Lots of great scenes and I think this was the first time all season Michael was likeable again. The halfway mark (where everyone walked in yawning followed by Ryan all hopped-up on Red Bull) made me cringe since I'm the upbeat Red Bull drinking douchebag in my office.
I can agree that Michael running away and hopping on a train was silly, but it was only silly. He wasn't being a complete lunatic and driving a car into a lake or taking back a gift basket. Hopping on a train (and not doing it until it was moving slow enough to hop on, no less) felt much more in-character than some of his decisions this season. |
First episode I've turned off. The Shrute Bed and Breakfast stuff is idiotic and the Amish looking guy turns this show into pure stupidity. This show has gone so far from it's roots it's not even watchable anymore.

"I have to warn people about the proprietor of Shrute Farms - he may portray himself as a gentleman farmer, but he is not what he seems! He killed my cat, sprinkles!!! Who knows what he might do to you or your loved ones...." Frankly, I would love to see another episode this season on Schrute Farms. It does a nice job of giving an extra dimension to Dwight's character. Does he take care of Mose? Is Mose slightly retarded? This episode also gave the most insight into the Jim-Dwight dynamic since "The Initiation" when it was revealed Jim rebuffed Dwight's attempt to be his ally. You get the feeling they could have openly been friends (rather than just tolerating each other) if their timing wasn't off. Also, why did Jan's family stop talking to her when she lost her job? |
