Samantha Who? 10/15/07-Premiere

Did anyone watch this? I tuned in, because a friend insisted that I watch it. It also has Jean Smart, which I loved in Designing Women. Anyway, it was actually very funny. There were several hilarious scenes, including one in which Samantha goes to AA. If you haven't seen it, I won't ruin it, but, it is worth checking out.

I liked it enough that I will tune in next week.

Didn't watch. ABC must want it to fail. They put it on during Heroes.

They did give it Dancing With The Stars as a lead-in, which is probably good for the demographic this show is aiming for.

I liked it well enough. My problem with half-hour shows is that I always forget them, and the commercials really break the rythym. I'll probably watch it durring weeks Heroes is being reran and then buy the DVDs.

Watched and liked it.

Seemed like there was a lot of stuff jammed into the show though.

I'll watch next week.

Viewers Remember 'Samantha'
Monday Comedy holds most of 'Dancing' lead-in
October 16, 2007

National ratings for Monday, Oct. 15, 2007

ABC got a strong premiere from its comedy "Samantha Who?" Monday, which helped carry the network to a ratings win.

For the night, ABC averaged a 10.3 rating/16 share, beating out CBS' 7.9/12. FOX, 6.5/10, came in third (with those numbers subject to change due to live sports). NBC's 5.4/8 was good for fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.8/3.

ABC also snagged a victory among adults 18-49, drawing a 4.2 rating to edge CBS' 4.1. NBC, 3.7, came in third in the key ad demographic. FOX averaged 2.9 and The CW 1.0.

"Dancing with the Stars," 12.4/19, dominated the 8 p.m. hour for ABC. FOX's coverage of the American League Championship Series finished second at 6.6/10. "How I Met Your Mother," 5.2/8, and "The Big Bang Theory," 5.4/8, put CBS in third among households, but NBC's "Chuck" (5.0/7) had a few more viewers. The CW went with "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Aliens in America."

The conclusion of "Dancing," 13.3/19, and "Samantha Who?," 10.2/15, kept ABC on top at 9 p.m., as "Samantha" held more of its lead-in than "The Bachelor" has in recent weeks. CBS moved up to second with "Two and a Half Men," 8.9/13, and "Rules of Engagement," 7.0/10. "Heroes" scored a 6.8/10 for NBC, dropping FOX's baseball game to fourth. "Girlfriends" and "The Game" averaged 1.8/3 for The CW.

At 10 p.m., "CSI: Miami" posted a 10.4/17 for CBS. "The Bachelor," 6.7/11, was second for NBC, while NBC's "Journeyman" drew a 4.5/7. FOX's ratings for the hour weren't available.

I had every intention of watching it, but then I saw that they had it scheduled from 9:32 to 10:02, right across the first 2 minutes of CSI: Miami

NOTE TO THE MORONS AT ABC:
Cut the crap. NBC was pulling this a few seasons ago, and stopped it because it was angering viewers who were forced to choose between not seeing ends of shows or not seeing beginnings of shows. They finally stopped, and now you start doing it? What the eff?

While ABC mostly has bad shows on their network, they did you a favor by running Samantha Who? 2 minutes over.

Of course, watching Caruso take off those sunglasses with a hilarious one line before the theme music plays is probably the best part of CSI: MiamiÖ YEAAAAAAHHH!

Anyways, I missed this (forgot), does anyone know if & when ABC is re-airing it? If they arenít Iíll just watch the second episode next money & Iíll probably catch on pretty quick.

I think Dancing with the Stars only is 90 minutes for the first half of the season. Once DWTS goes back to being an hour show, when does ABC plan to air this show? Or will they just start another half-hour show behind it?

I thought Heroes wasn't doing any repeats this year. I think they're filling the "rerun gap" in the spring with Heroes: Origins which may or may not end up in the S2 DVDs. So that plan may not work out for you...

Yeah, mine did too. I think the show ran over so I padded it by 5 minutes.

I really liked this show. It's got a pretty good wit about it and I don't think a sitcom has visited this type of storyline before, but I could be wrong.

There are just so many possibilities for the direction of her life and the show. She's already found out that she estranged from her parents, just broke up with her boyfriend, who she was cheating on. She's an alcoholic and doesn't really have any friends.

There is so much comedy to mine out of that and her sad, pathetic life!

According to my Excel television grid, starting in January 2008 here is the schedule:

8 to 9: Wife Swap
9 to 9:30: Samantha Who?
9:30 to 10: Notes From the Underbelly
10 to 11: October Road

Just watched it. I thought it was pretty good too. However, my DVR also cut it off. Did anything happen after she asked her mom if she was the one that ran her over?

The gist of what happens after Sam asks if it was her mother that ran her down:

Mom: (yelling to dad) She's Back!
Sam: That's not an answer.
Mom: (bringing in bags) Come on in you can use your old room. You know where it is.
Sam: Um, no I don't.
Mom: Well guess. C'mon it'll be fun. (heads upstairs)
Sam: One more question...Any chance I was adopted? (crosses fingers)

Fade out...
