It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Dee Is Dating a Retarded Person" 10/11/07

Spoiler:
Dee dates a famous local rapper and it could turn out to be true love, even though he might be mentally challenged. In any event, his success inspires Mac, Dennis, Charlie and Frank to start their own band.

This is the only new episode tonight. "Hundred Dollar Baby" is aired after this one. At least I'll get an extra half hour of sleep tonight (in theory).

I'm looking forward to how they make a joke out of the title right before it appears.

HE Pennypacker 10-11-07 08:11 AM

Ahahahaha, can't wait.

rfduncan 10-11-07 08:19 AM

Poor, poor Sweet Dee. Last week she was on fire to save kittens, now she's dating the mentally challenged. -ohbfrank-

I love this show. I totally can't wait to see what they do with this title/premise. I have a feeling it'll be hilarious! (But, I'm one of the ones that think everything they do is comedy gold.)

HE Pennypacker 10-11-07 11:54 AM

I've never had a show's title by its own make me laugh out loud before. Philly manages to make me do just that on several occasions.

Trelach24 10-11-07 03:59 PM

Man, it feels as if I've been waiting for this episode for months now.

Jimmy James 10-11-07 05:35 PM

I'm a bit confused why they have phrased the title the way they have. Based on prior titles, I'd think "Dee Dates a Retarded Person" would have been the way to go. Maybe they specifically use the title as a line in the episode, so they went with the slightly longer and more awkward title.

Jimmy James 10-11-07 10:01 PM

The show veered off into so wrong it's not funny territory early on in the episode, but it made up for it with the music stuff and the resolution to Sweet Dee's retarded boyfriend.

cerial442 10-11-07 10:05 PM

Nightman and Dayman were amazing.

invisiblegt 10-11-07 10:37 PM

You was more mixed up than a milkshake baby.

MrX 10-11-07 10:41 PM

This weeks "Charlie's illiterate" joke with the lyrics in pictures:lol:

actionjackson29 10-12-07 12:29 AM

I just watch all of Season 1 & 2 yesterday. I love all the characters but, Charlie is without a doubt one of the funniest characters ever.

Birrman54 10-12-07 11:55 AM

I was dying during the Nightman

Holy crap that was funny. The running gag of Charlie huffing glue and paint made me laugh too.

Cardiff Giant11 10-12-07 04:46 PM

definitely dug this one as i have nearly every episode. Nightman was great as was Dennis' Bowie look at the end.

Could you elaborate on this?

Jimmy James 10-12-07 06:08 PM

I found the cartoon scene to go into unfunny and disturbing territory.

Smart fellow. The line that precedes the title and opening credits:

Sweet Dee: There's no way I'm dating a retarded person.

Are you talking about Charlie singing onstage with his drawings? If so, that was the point.

I think he's talking about Sweet Dee and the 'retarded' guy watching cartoons on his couch.

No -- the other guy is right. I was talking about Sweet Dee and her boyfriend watching cartoons. I found Charlie singing and his "lyrics" to be funny as hell.

Geofferson 10-12-07 09:22 PM

Damn was that a funny episode last night -- best of the season thus far, imo.

If I recall correctly the title "Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person" came on the screen right after Dee insisted "I am NOT dating a retarded person!"

So the wording was part of the joke.
