Carpoolers - Series Premiere - PILOT -- 10/2/07

Pilot

Spoiler:
We are introduced to Aubrey, Gracen, Laird, and Dougie as they commiserate about life on their way to work. On the ride to work as they miss all the traffic and fly in the carpool lane, Gracen tells the guys how upset he is that his wife, Leila, spent $200 of "his" money on a toaster. Thtis starts a whole argument about marriage and money.

Okay, this may turn out to be absolute crap, but I am watching for Fred Goss. I'm still pissed at ABC for not advertising Sons & Daughters to death, though. That show was good and deserved better!

Is that a KitchenAid ProLine toaster? Or a Dualit maybe?

I like how it pulled the toast down in to toast without having to push a lever...not that I want a $200 toaster...I'm just curious!

Yes.

It was okay. I'll give it another shot.

Are they in a car for the entire episode?

Nah, it's just what they are and what bonds each together in their lives.

I liked the pilot. A little rough around the edges but enjoyable. I'll definitely give it another shot.

Holy sh*t, It’s that bad? I missed the “Pilot” & I was actually going to check this out but I completely forgot.

This wasn't much better than Cavemen, but at least I made it through the whole thing.

It is amazing that Hollywood has almost completely lost the knowledge of how to make a decent sitcom.

Oh man was this BAD!!

Let's see who we could put together in a car

Minority
Newly wed
Divorced guy
Midlife married guy

Oh here's another great idea - let's have them in different lines of work. Doesn't everyone carpool with people they don't work with?

Just plain goofy - his son gets a job making more $ than the father, I just flipped the house 3x bit ??

Is this supposed to be funny?

Obviously, some are gonna like it and some are gonna hate it.

I thought it was pretty good. You should definitely give it a chance.

I will next week & they’ll probably end up re-airing the “pilot” eventually anyway.

This was not better than Cavemen. Some people obviously watched two minutes of Cavemen just so they could talk about how awful it is. Anyway, I probably won't be watching this show again. It loses points with me because of Jerry O'Connell, but he isn't the problem. It's just a dumb show.

I enjoyed Caveman a lot more than this one.

I could not make it past 15 minutes of this. Total crap.

I think this concept would have worked a lot better as a recurring Kids in the Hall sketch... which isn't that surprising. Still, it's created by Brucio, so I have to give it the benefit of the doubt. I wasn't very impressed with the first episodes of 30 Rock or The Office, either.

This was average, not a lot of laughs, just a lot of bottled up anxiety that gets diffused through the carpool rides. Definitely in 4th spot for the Tuesday 8 p.m. timeslot (along with Cavemen).

Cavemen >>>>>>> Carpoolers

$10 says Carpoolers doesn't make it to sweeps.

This reminded me of bad community theater. Totally unrealistic characters with mediocre writing at best.

I thought it was really funny. The kid in his underwear doing the job interview online had me rolling.
