10/01/07 - Weeds - The Two Mrs. Scottsons

Summary:

Sullivans and Celias relatioship heats up, meanwhile Andy gets involved in other businesses. Nancy meets Peters other ex-wife, and Shane & Isabelle hang out.

PixyJunket 10-02-07 07:58 AM

Pretty boring episode.. :(

Xander 10-03-07 12:33 PM

Pretty much agree. They really gave no clue as to why Nancy would be trying to find/communicate with Peter's ex-wife. WTF?

Really, I think the Shane/Isabelle scenes were the best ones. =/

Nausicaa 10-03-07 12:50 PM

Yeah, this episode was amazingly bad. There didn't seem to really be any point to anything that happened, with the exception of the Shane and Isabelle scenes.

I enjoyed how the two kids spoke about how they don't see the big deal about getting high. It really helps illustrate how all this drama that surrounds an innocuous plant is absolutely ludicrous. I also thought it showed Shane acting more his age, which is something that's been missing this season.

I think Nancy was following Peter's ex-wife because Peter told her when they first met that she was dead. I'm not totally sure if that's accurate though. Otherwise I agree, just why was she following her around?

PixyJunket 10-03-07 01:08 PM

I assumed she was stalking out to see how she was handling life after her husband died, though since they were divorced, I don't know. I'll also agree that the Shane/Isabelle scenes were very good, as was Doug's short scene (as usual). Andy's side story is pretty horrible, on the other hand. The show is mess right now, there's too much going on, they're writing in and out characters every episode, etc. The only string "thread" this season has been the Sullivan Groff stuff.. and that's pretty far removed from, you know.. weed.

FantasticVSDoom 10-03-07 09:54 PM

I really thought she was stalking Peter's ex to some how sell her weed, or get her involved in some way... Either than that, I just didnt get it.

Pretty dumb episode. Nothing funny or relevant happened, just lots of odds and ends that didn't seem to gel. I'm missing the quality of the first two seasons more and more each time.

Trigger 10-04-07 12:05 PM

I think it's a transitional episode leading up to the next one... it did feel like not much happened though.

The second season wasn't even near as good as the first was, to be honest.

I thought they were both equally good. The 2nd season was more over-the-top though.

clckworang 10-04-07 05:34 PM

Eh, I liked season 2 more than season 1. I thought that the show found its tone a little bit better then. Season 1 felt very uneven to me, like the show was still trying to find its legs.

Anyway, I agree that this seemed very much like a transitional episode. I just wish they had allowed us to better understand Nancy's motivations. But that will probably be addressed next time.

sb5 10-04-07 06:22 PM

Yeah, I liked Season 2 a little bit more than Season 1 as well.

I'm starting to get the same feeling watching this season of Weeds as I did with the last season of Rescue Me: I keep waiting for a strong main story arc to start, but we keep getting farther and farther into the season and it doesn't seem to be coming.

Supermallet 10-05-07 04:19 AM

I have to say, I think this is the single worst episode of the show so far. I only laughed once, during Andy's "porn is magical" speech.

Y'all are missing the entire creative vision from Jenji.

Smoke enough weed & anything becomes funny.

SonOfAStu 10-05-07 06:59 AM

Damn, I hate to see this show continuing it's downward spiral. I had a feeling it was going to happen though. At least I can just pretend the first season was a stand alone series and make up my own version of what happened after Nancy found out she was sleeping with a DEA agent.

Would anyone care to explain to me what was going on with Peter's partner and the police chief? What was that conversation all about? They were dirty cops?

Wazootyman 10-05-07 07:08 AM

From what I gathered, PEter and the partner were dirty, skimming off the top. The boss was kind of relieved that Peter was gone, because he didn't have to deal with him and could make the partner clean up the mess left behind.

Ill agree, subpar episode. Wonder if we'll find out why there was stalking

SonOfAStu 10-05-07 07:13 AM

You mean, the Matt Modine voice over (talking to Celia) while Nancy was going in for her mamogram wasn't telling enough? THEY HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON!! OMG!! Now it's going to be a mini-Lifetime movie in the middle of the season.

FantasticVSDoom 10-05-07 07:20 AM

Its sad because I thought the first episode of this season was really strong, but dropped heavily after that... Im willing to wait out the season, but I hope they get it turned around.

Have you checked my username? If I smoked anymore while watching this show I would enter a new plane of existence. Sometimes even weed can't make an unfunny episode of a show about weed funny.

My take on Nancy stalking the ex:

She went to Peter's funeral, and it is finally hitting her he is dead. She is grieving for him, in her own way. She sees his son and then the ex-wife and like many women, she is curious about the other Mrs. Scottson. She starts following her, mainly to learn more about her, which helps her learn more about Peter. That was my take, as a woman. I think it is just natural to be curious about the woman who came before you and Nancy is weird and impulsive about acting out her emotions.

Coral 10-06-07 05:47 PM

My theory on why Nancy is stalking Mrs. Scottson:

Nancy's already lost her husband and everything she's been doing through the course of the show is a result of that loss as she's trying to keep her family afloat. Now that Peter's dead, I think she wants to see how his ex-wife and son are handling their loss as her own life is out of control. Nancy wants to know if it's possible to lead a normal life after this type of loss and if there's hope for her and her family.

Now it might be something as simple as guilt, but that seems to easy.

Was that just a makeup job on Cecilia's rack (the reconstructive surgery)?

She wore a body suit for that episode.
