I think it's fairly obvious that Sylar is the series villain. Others will come and go but the series is ending with the Hero's facing off against Sylar for the last time.

or at least that's how I would do it.

Jimmy James 10-03-07 05:48 PM

I don't think this show can sustain itself if it all comes back to the Heroes fighting Sylar over and over and over again. They can use him quite a bit, but he eventually has to progress as a character somehow, whether that means being killed off, turning into a "good" guy, beating the Heroes, going off to space, or whatever. While you can get away with bringing villains back again and again in the comic books, it's not nearly that easy to do in TV or film.

As I said before, I don't think he has the be the "Big Bad" every season but instead be a back round character. Make a few cameo's every season maybe pull some strings in the back round but not out and out confrontations that often.

Again this maybe just my inner comic nerd coming out but I wouldn't be disappointed if this is how it happened.

anyone think that perhaps kensei = boogeyman? which is perhaps how the symbol which we first see in 1671 (is that the year they're in?) with kensei continues to show up until the present day? perhaps now that he knows he can heal himself, he considers himself immortal and ends up getting power-hungry and evil? ultimately, he might be the mastermind behind everything, including organizing the older generation of heroes, starting the company, etc. i think that would be an interesting way to explain the prevalence of the symbol throughout the show...

of course, that is highly unlikely and i think if that IS the route they take, it would kinda ruin the show since they'd be explaining everything too quickly. of course, they'd still have to explain the relevance of the solar eclipse. so there's your season 3.

Well, they don't HAVE to turn him evil yet. I'd wait.

I dig this show, I do, but just like last season these early episodes are boring as hell. They've got to do their set up, and I respect that, but geez. I can't wait for things to pick up.

And just like last season, Hiro's and Claire's plotlines are carrying the show for me.

Josh-da-man 10-04-07 11:32 AM

If they are cribbing plotlines from actual comic books, I fully expect that

1. Sylar will be "reformed." Much like Magneto in the 80s X-Men comics.

2. The "killer" is Ms. Petrelli. She faked the attack on herself in the police station to cast suspicion off of herself -- much like what we saw in "Watchmen." (And we know they've already mined one thing from that book.)

Funny that you mentioned that. I actually think the pacing and writing is exactly as slow and onerous as it was last year.

Yep. I though it would get a bit zippier in this 2nd season, but I suspect we will get the same molasses-like pace right up until sweeps.

For two weeks now, while watching in HD, the scenes with the Wonder Twins break up, pixelate, etc, while the rest of the show is just fine. Has this happened to anyone else? It's bizarre that it only happens during their scenes....

The killer that pushed Sulu looked like a guy in a hoodie. Don't think it was Ma Patrelli.

Caught up with this last night. I don't call myself a rabid fan like some folks here, so I was pretty happy. I'm eager to see where the twins-thing goes, but I'm kind of disappointed that Mr. Sark has healing abilities. Claire's toe thing was kind of predictable, but that's fine...I can roll with it. Interesting to see the Haitian back with Mr. Bennett, but I also wonder how in the world Mrs. Bennett is all of a sudden so healthy. Is it possible that she's actually the shape-shifter helping the whole family?

Put me in the camp, please, that thinks it's lame we might have to stay on top of the comics to keep posted. I barely have enough time to watch the show itself, so the online "novels" are too much. Good for those who can read them, though.

I don't think it was Claude who was attacking Ma Patrelli; the action inside that room was too fast. Finally, Peter annoyed the hell out of me for about 20 episodes last season, but it's awesome seeing him now. I can't wait to see where his story goes.

I think it was that the Haitian was erasing her brain so often that she essentially had some nasty brain bruising. Now that it isn't happening any more, she has gotten better.

Yes, but I think that has to do with the HD itself. I notice much more pixelation in darker shows like Supernatural than in brighter scenes.

Not that I expect this show to be realistic, but I'm pretty sure that can't happen, no matter what. Brain cells don't regenerate, and concussions get successively worse. Now I know we're talking about a show full of mutated humans, but I'm not willing to buy this explanation if it's what the producers/writers want us to think.

I'm certainly no expert on concussions, but it's my understanding from various sports that the side effects of concussions DO get better over time. I know each one is successively worse, so if it is a concussion issue, any blow to the head should be worse the next time.

Of course, this is a show about people with super powers. They were careful to keep Peter away from Linderman, but perhaps there is a good explanation for miraculous healing we just don't know about yet.
