From the futoncritic:
Note: I corrected the rankings here because they had it incorrectly listed as tied for 8th in 18-49 when it was actually tied for 3rd based on all the other numbers. Those are actually pretty impressive numbers for that key demographic, especially going head to head with two ratings goliaths that also appeal to that demo.
Meanwhile, NBC (households: 5.7/9, #3; adults 18-49: 4.3, #3) offered up the season premiere of "My Name Is Earl" (households: 5.2/9, #11, half-hour: N/A; adults 18-49: 3.5, #T13, half-hour: N/A), a second "My Name Is Earl" (households: 5.5/9, #8, half-hour: N/A; adults 18-49: 3.9, #11, half-hour: N/A), the opener to "The Office" (households: 5.4/8, #9, half-hour: N/A; adults 18-49: 5.1, #T3, half-hour: N/A), a second "The Office" (households: 5.3/8, #10, half-hour: N/A; adults 18-49: 5.1, #T3, half-hour: N/A) and the return of "ER" (households: 6.4/11, #7, half-hour: 3.08%; adults 18-49: 4.2, #6, half-hour: -2.44%).
Said "Office" numbers marked its most-watched episodes in the key demographic compared with all of last season, beating out the 5.0 rating set by its 1/11/07 and 2/1/07 installments. The episodes also marked the largest NBC audience in the 9:00/8:00c hour compared with all of last season. "Earl" then was on par with its 2006 opener (households: 5.8/10; adults 18-49: 3.7 on 9/21/06) while "ER" (households: 10.0/17; adults 18-49: 6.8 on 9/21/06) was down a troubling 38.24%.

6 pages and still no mention of Pam "accidently" trying to buy a celebrity sex tape online? The look of embarrassment on her face was priceless.

Pam never told Jim about it; She kept it her secret. And Jim eventually found out on his own when he saw them making out, but he also kept it his secret. If Pam and Jim have talked about it with each other, they haven't shown that on the show.

Agree it dragged on in the second half, not a particularly great episode. Also, my NBC affiliate messed up and was showing the non hd version for about 20 minutes during the middle of the episode really annoying.

Yep, those ebay sellers got my money for a shirt - fairly funny episode that only dragged a bit in spots (I think these 1 hour eps are usually a bit bloated) but some classic moments and overall it was a good start to the season.

I got one of the ebay shirts as well.
"Double Jeopardy" was great, but my biggest lol was probably when Michael was describing animals to sacrifice, and he imagined one with "the body of a walrus...and the head of...a sea lion."
I agree with others that it dragged a bit and the super size episodes seem to be the perfect length. We'll see how they do with the next few episodes. Still a good start and here's hoping it gets even better.

I also thought it was interesting that when Jan was in corporate she would get angry at Michael for something like the fun run. Now that she's not in corporate anymore she actually participates.

I loved everything about this episode, especially the small stuff. I loved Michael's line about Jan - "This is what I have to come home to." - I love the double meaning of that line, and I'd say that it was intended to be that way.

I liked it, but overall it had a cartoon-y feel to it, which I feel is un-'Office' like. Some examples were
It's not that I mind these things or thought they weren't funny, it's just based on the last 3 seasons they seemed out of character for the show (compare to 'The Carpet'). I really like that understated humor and rather they not change the formula. This episode was a bit long though, and may have been better as a super-size than an hour long.
However, I did like the changes I see in Jim and Pam, the little things that reflect their happiness now that they're together.
