Overrated/Underrated Television Shows
 

I don't know if this has been done before (It probally has) but I would like to know in your opinion (& yours only) what shows do you think are Overrated & what shows do you think are underrated?

Now heres how it works...

You take 2 shows. Preferably from the same Genre.

I'm not good at giving instructions so here is some examples...

Overrated: The Office
Underrated: Scrubs

Overrated: Seinfeld
Underrated: NewsRadio

Overrated: Law & Order
Underrated: Homicide: Life on the Street

Overrated: Family Guy
Underrated: King of the Hill

Those are just 4 examples & i could give you a much longer list but you get the point. Now when you put a show in the "Overrated" section it doesn't mean that you have to dislike the show, it just means that compared to the "Underrated" show it just isn't as good or it just shouldn't have been praised so highly. I like all of the shows that I have listed with the exeption of The Office & Family Guy. I don't dislike The Office, I just don't watch it. I just plain out don't like Family Guy but that would be the only one i dislike.

I love both shows but I completely agree...

I agree with this, but only in relationship to each other.

Overrated: Friends
Underrated: Frasier

King of the Hill has always been underrated. It's also been one of the most consistently funny shows on television (animated or otherwise.)

Overrated: Heroes
Underrated: Dexter

Overrated: House, M.D.
Underrated: Grey's Anatomy

Overrated: Arrested Development

I still don't understand why CBS didn't keep Smith. 10PM Thursdays is a tough time slot, but it deserved a real chance. They cancel that, but keep Shark? :rolleyes:

Overrated: Boston Legal, Numbers, Criminal Minds
Underrated: The Practice, Conviction
The Practice was killed when they changed the cast. I thought Conviction was good. Not great, but certainly better than most hour long dramas.

Overrated: According to Jim, Friends' last 2-4 seasons, Joey -ohbfrank-
Underrated: Arrested Development, Scrubs, The Office
I still wish Arrested Development had moved to cable, that show was great. I say Scrubs because it seems that NBC doesn't seem to give it the attention it deserves. I'm glad it's back for another season, the Shirley thing should be funny. Hopefully Kim tells JD it's another man's baby and they bring in a new slammin' hottie.. or at least more TCW. And The Office because it doesn't get the ratings it deserves. But I think unlike Arrested Development, it'll get at least 5-6 seasons because it'll do well in syndication. NBC also needs it with 30 Rock & My Name is Earl to bracket the new comedy in 2008 (after Scrubs' final season)

I don't think you understand the over/underrated concept.

According To Jim and (especially) Joey are considered pieces of crap,
and The Office and Arrested Development are considered to be brilliant.

I don't think it's a lack of understanding of the concept but a different perspective on the shows. I imagine he just knows a bunch of folks who love those crappy shows or else he's relying on ratings as his frame of reference.

Never thought I'd see the day when someone would match Scrubs & Father Ted or Mama's Family.

And Scrubs and Arrested Development are considered overrated by people in this thread, does that mean I should call shenanigans on their opinion?

According to Jim and Joey were all over TV when they first came out. It seemed like ABC and NBC had promos for them no matter what show was on. It was enough for me to remember today and that was years ago, so that qualifies as overrated to me.

But that's not important, let's talk about something else. How do you feel about apples and oranges? ;)
