However, they are not mentally and emotionally maturing any faster than they used to. In fact, the majority of research (psychological, sociological, and medical) indicates that the mental and emotional maturing process has actually slowed down to the point that people are starting to mature out of their adolescent stage as late as their mid-to-late twenties (specialists have even added a third stage of adolescence to their classifications, as a result).

The problem that this causes is when adults see outer signs (physical and behavioral) of "adulthood" in teenagers and start treating them like adults before they are mentally and emotionally ready to handle it. Depending on what's involved in the specific situation, this can actually have some pretty powerful negative impacts on their development, including severe long-term emotional issues.

So, no . . . there is nothing inherently wrong with physical attraction to a physically appealing attributes. However, there is a lot of potential danger attached to anything past that when the person in question is not mature enough to handle it.

Well fucking said.

Because there *IS* a big diff between 16 and 18. It is more than physical though, the intellect of a 16 yr old....uhm...yeah.

btw...your argument is sorta creepy. Just thought I'd point out the (underaged?) elephant in the room.

Instead of attacking me, why can't one or all of you just put me on 'ignore'? It really won't hurt my feelings.

Chris

Why do so many of your posts have the "is she young enough vibe" that is so horrifyingly consistant? Young and tan and friendly is good. But after a point you seem to be trolling for support. Sorry, but my preteen detector is set to "Get the fuck out of here you pedophile."

Runs consistantly. Nickel cadmium batteries and all.

It's not good and it's not alright. These are the people we should protect. they need our help not our dick. They need to look to a future that has hope and all the world to win. Not something that shames all of us.

Good Lord, what have I wrought? I think the bitchy, rich girl played by a 22 year old is cute but maybe I should have kept it to myself after all...

Hey, anyone see how amazing Michelle Pfeiffer looked in Stardust? I can't believe she's really fifty. Who's with me? :flowers:

Brent_MN 08-25-07 01:57 AM

Cloris Leachman.

Anyways, I don't know what happened to this thread. I wanted to say that I had an HSM2 viewing party with my 34 year old sister, her husband, HIS friend, and my 6 year old niece. I'm 25. We all left our "cheese-meter" at the door and all enjoyed it a ton.

I've been listening the soundtrack all week, and frankly, can't get enough of it!! Weird, cause I am pretty into classic rock and emo :P lol

My neice's buddy Isaac has a crush on Gabriella (who is 18) and I thought to myself, "kinda creepy that a 1st grader and I both have a crush on the same girl." WTF do I make of that? haha.

Well, I was off there. But it was the #2 biggest seller so far this year. It moved 615,000 copies in it's first week (Linkin Park sold 623,000 in week 1). The only soundtracks to move more copies in a single week are The Bodyguard, 8 Mile and Titanic.

Sean Connery: I've got to ask you about the Cheese-Meter.

Alex Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is......?

Sean Connery: Gussy it up however you want, Trebek. What matters is does it work? Will it really Meter my Cheese, man?

Alex Trebek: It's not a product, Mr. Connery.

Sean Connery: Because I've ordered devices like that before - wasted a pretty penny, I don't mind telling you. And if The Cheese-Meter works, I'll order a dozen.

Alex Trebek: It's not a Cheese-Meter, Mr. Connery. There's no such thing!

Nicholas Cage: Wait, wait, wait.. are you selling Cheese-Meters?

Alex Trebek: No! No, I'm not.

Sean Connery: Well, you're sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!

Seriously though, where in this thread have I mentioned anything about pre-teens, other than HSM2 being perfect for them?

I find it interesting that the majority of people that took offense to my honest statements of fact, (why is it okay to lust after someone who just turned 18, but the day before their 18th birthday it is not okay? - That is hypocritcal to me) that those persons first posts in this thread were attacking me? At least talemyn posted a thoughtful rebuttal to my statement.

At least my first post in this thread was about the movie, who it was geared towards, it's ratings & how much money it would make for Disney.

And in responding to Decker's comment:

And if I was certain Ashley Tisdale was over 18, I might admit she's pretty hot as well.
My comments were, she's 22, so go for it. And the majority of the other teens in the movie are 18 years of age or older. What is so creepy about those statement of facts?

Back in 1982 when I saw Phoebe Cates in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' my mouth dropped open because she was so beautiful. She was 18 at the time, but playing a 16 or 17 year old (??). Was I 'creepy' for thinking that? And am I still creepy now for thinking she was incredibly hot back then? And she is still hot!

http://chicinparis.files.wordpress.c...hoebecates.jpg

Is the real problem because of my age (46)? What if I were an 18 year old making these comments, would it be okay with all of you?

At least I can be honest when I say that I'm attracted to younger women (20's & 30's), not just physically, but emotionally and we have more things in common. All of my friends are in their 20's & 30's. I have very little in common with most people my age. They've pretty much given up on life, don't like to have fun, are not physically fit and not fun to be around.

I like to have fun and do whatever I can to make sure my friends are happy. Whether it's video games, music, movies, hiking, etc.

I've been going to raves here in LA recently. The average age of the people going there? Probably early to mid 20's. I don't go to raves because there are a lot of young people there. I got # 1 for the energy of the music and # 2 for the energy of the crowd. It just so happens that younger people like the kind of music that I like (Euro House & Alternative). Does this make me creepy?

Chris

NotThatGuy 08-25-07 03:01 PM

Yes.

OK. Let's stay on topic please. This thread is about the Disney movie.

I'm giving the first movie a chance tomorrow night. Not sure if I'll like it better than the second.

Brent_MN 08-25-07 05:06 PM

mr. payroll, do you have a blog? i wanna read more about your raves.

and you work for disney right? do they need any accountants? :)

I apologize for continuing to have to defend myself and take this thread off course.

So, because I have loved a certain type of music (techno) since 1991, and just because I've become 16 years older since then, it makes me creepy to go to those type of dances?

I guess you would want to put all of us 'old' people in homes by the time we're 40?

This is the exact thing that I'm talking about. Putting an age bracket into a certain stereotype of life. I like to play video games. Am I too old for that? Should we pass laws banning 'old' people from having fun?

I'm not sure about accountant jobs at Disney. The majority of what's considered accounting is in Florida.

No, I don't have a blog. The last rave I went to was in Downtown LA on July 14th, I got tired by 11:30 and went home. Armin van Buren played at that one. Seriously, I had just gotten back from my European vacation and was still a little tired.

I'm thinking of going to NOCTURNAL 2007 on Sept 29th. That's a big one. The capacity is 25,000 and Paul van Dyk, The Chemical Brothers & Carl Cox are the headliners there.

And for sure I'm going to this on New Years Eve:

• TIESTO AT GIANT MAXIMUS IN LOS ANGELES ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

If you caught the end of Tiësto’s performance last Saturday, you already know this… Tiësto himself announced his return to Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve… at GIANT MAXIMUS!

Following up on last year’s ‘GIANT MAXIMUS’ with Sasha and John Digweed, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Sander Kleinenberg, we’re rolling out an all-new line-up this New Year’s Eve… starting with Tiësto... and we'll be adding many more top names to this 3 Stage event!

SPECIAL OFFER FOR GIANT MEMBERS: As a perk for reading our emails each week, we’re extending an exclusive GIANT MAXIMUS Ticket offer to you: Save up to $30 on General Admission Tickets and $50 on VIP Tickets if you purchase them before September 1, 2007. Tickets are already discounted by $20 (GA) and $40 (VIP) and you’ll save an additional $10 per ticket by inserting the coupon code MAXIMUS at the bottom of the Groove Tickets Order Page before your online purchase.
Last year I didn't find out about Giant Maximus until a couple of days before New Years Eve. I got a ticket and had a great time. But, I only made it until 12:30, because I had 5 shots of tekillya before I took a taxi to the dance and I got the worst headache.

Chris

Brent_MN 08-26-07 11:17 AM

so anyways, back to HSM2. :)

The only song I didn't like...at all...was the second one of the movie. "Fabulous." It was just uncatchy in all respects. Anyone know when this is out on the DVD?

NotThatGuy 08-26-07 12:55 PM

Is HSM / HSM2 worth renting for someone who enjoys musicals, but isn't really a fan of teen movies? I remember seeing the HSM CD all over the place on the charts, but haven't gotten around to listening to it.

ps. Chris, I don't want to sidetrack this thread, so let's agree to disagree. No hard feelings.
