Age of Love. Yes, I watched it.

Did anyone else here? I know, it's a stupid reality show, and everyone loves to bash them, but what else is on during the summer anyway? I was surprised that they got Mark Phili... for this. I actually knew who he was beforehand (vaguely, I think he was in Virtua Tennis or Virtua Tennis 2 which I used to play constantly). Just hearing about the concept I had a feeling what was going to happen. They picked extra annoying young girls to make the 40 year olds seem like much better choices. They also didn't make any of them too good-looking in order to make it a little fairer as well. The older women weren't so great looking, and definitely looked a little weathered. I was surprised the one woman was 48, but then again she does live in LA so I'm sure she has help. She looks very familiar to me.

Either way it was interesting enough to pass the time, and I'll probably be checking out the rest of the episodes.

I started watching this to see if any of the young girls were hot, thus keeping me interested in the show. After seeing them all, i said to my wife "Well, i won't be watching this show. They're either not attractive or completely fake" And she made the exact same point you did which i didn't think of. If they were all unbelieveably hot, the older women would have no chance.

Rob V 06-26-07 11:02 AM

Jezzus, you guys must have some awfully high standards. Those 20 somethings are beautiful. Granted, the girl he booted last night was the worst of the bunch -- the rest are hotties.

The producers definitely balanced out the show by implementing 40 year olds with something on the ball and 20 year olds that are (by and large) stupid and immature. That said, no way a tennis pro who has been nailing 20 year olds is going to take a 40 year old home and raise a family with her.

spainlinx0 06-26-07 11:30 AM

I'm not saying they aren't fuckable. However, really obvious fake boobs are a turnoff for me. I'm just saying the fact that they aren't drop dead gorgeous hurts them immensely because they don't seem to have anything at all going on upstairs. And, I'm saying this because the older women didn't seem to have such outstanding personalities either, but they shine in comparison to the younger bunch.

Doesn't mean that he can't pick a 40-something at the end and take her home, nail her, dump her, and go back to 20-somethings.

I tried to watch AOL, but didn't get into it.... however, The Science of Love was enjoyable and I will watch that show again.

magiccmom 06-26-07 02:18 PM

yeah, I watched it....cant believe I'm admitting it! Thought the 48 year old, and a few of the others, reeked of plastic surgery. Didnt think the 20 year olds were that good looking in todays reality tv standards. Not even sure I think he has the most riveting of personalities, but hey, I'm really stretching for something to watch until Big Brother comes on.

spainlinx0 06-26-07 02:20 PM

I have Science of Love DVR'ed since I thought I might want to check it out. I'll definitely be watching it this week.

Mittman 06-26-07 05:58 PM

One of my co-workers used to work at a sports agency. She said they paid all his credit card bills for him. He spend $162,000 in one year @ various strip clubs. Guy was a total sleeze.

I bet he takes a young one.

spainlinx0 06-26-07 07:07 PM

I think he takes a younger one whether he was a sleaze or not. I mean, he is 30. In 10 years most of those women will be looking even more worn down while he is still most likely still looking like he does now. The reason why the men dating younger women standard partly exists is because men age more favorably than women for the most part. It's still weird to flip it for any long period of time.

I liked the science of love better. Id watch that again over the other show

My favorite guilty pleasure of summer tv has always been dating shows.

Jadzia 06-27-07 12:43 AM

What is Science of Love?

spainlinx0 06-27-07 07:10 AM

Science of Love, from the preview that I saw, is about a guy who picks a girl he wants to date from a selection based on "instinct" and then the show matches him up with a girl based on computer matching information. Then, they send him on the "perfect" date with the computer matched girl that is "calculated for love." Something to that effect is what I gathered.

Also, I think maybe he will pick a 40 year old because these reality shows always have to have a lesson, but I think it would be GREAT if he picked younger, and said something to the effect of "yeah she was cute, but she's probably barren by now."

spainlinx0 08-07-07 08:55 AM

So was anyone still watching this? Did I miss an episode? I thought last week they were down to three girls, with previews of Megan freaking out about a plane trip and all of a sudden last night it's the finale with 2 girls left? Did they air an episode at a different time? Did my Cablevision DVR miss something? Did I completely space out last week?

Anyway I'm glad he actually picked the younger girl even though she was crazier. I know the other one looks good for 48, but she is still 48. When her looks start to go, they are going to go fast.

SoSpacey 08-07-07 09:01 AM

The way I saw it....

The young one he picked are a dime a dozen. He could walk into any club and bang a somewhat hot 25 year old whenever he wants...there are plenty of them.

How often can you bang a 48 year old who looks that good and once had 32 orgasms in a row?

The show was so bad, when they got down to the final 4, two girls quit (one had a sit down with him before the trip to Australia and left, and the other freaked out on the plane and quit right there and took a cab home).

I saw when the girl quit, but I don't remember the plane thing. I mean, I saw the preview of her freaking out, but I thought that was part of this episode. I wanted to see the freakout. :(

clckworang 08-07-07 02:50 PM

My DVR crapped out on recording this show the last couple of weeks. Which one actually won? Which were the ones who quit?

It was pretty bad. She apparently had a problem with flying, and he kept trying to calm her down by talking about Quantas' safety record. She seemed ok, but the second she stepped foot on the plane, she started to hyperventilate, and had to get off. He sat her down, talked to her, tried to arrange for her to catch the next flight a few hours later, but she just wanted to go home.

Amanda (25) won : http://www.nbc.com/Age_of_Love/bios/bio_amanda.shtml

Jennifer (48) made it to Australia but lost : http://www.nbc.com/Age_of_Love/bios/bio_jennifer.shtml

Megan (21) wouldn't get on the plane to go to Australia : http://www.nbc.com/Age_of_Love/bios/bio_megan.shtml

Maria (42) sat down with Mark and self-eliminated herself just before he announced that they'd be going to Australia: http://www.nbc.com/Age_of_Love/bios/bio_maria.shtml

Aww, thank you SOO much for that rundown.

I guess I'm not that surprised at who he chose.

Wow, so Maria finally went through with the whole self-elimination thing. I was curious if she would ever actually do that.

Two Mondays ago was the episode with the 2 self eliminations (everything pre-Australia) and last Monday was the finale with him choosing between the final two. I didn't really watch either episode, just fast forwarded until something that looked good, stopped, watched that, then started fastfowarding again.

At the end, the two didn't seem too into each other. Just a bunch of closed-mouth kissing.

spainlinx0 08-07-07 08:25 PM

Damn, I know I watched the episode where Maria eliminated herself. I guess I just missed the whole airplane segment, although I could have sworn it was shown as "next week on Age of Love."

Patman 08-07-07 10:20 PM

So, how many of the 40-somethings will be appearing in Playboy soon?
