I happened to turn off the dvd player last night (The Wire - Season One, I'm getting my friends into it) and my TV automatically switches over to the next HDMI imput which is my cable box - Heartland was on. I immediately decided I hated it based on the 15-20 seconds I saw of what has now become the staple of medical shows, it seems - the new-wave-y, pussy-rock, space-out song playing over the surgery montage/scene.
No thank you, Mr. Williams. No, thank you.
Back to topic - I really enjoy The Closer, but it isn't fit to capped in the head by Vic Mackey, nor to be told to Screw off, blah, blah, blah by Tommy Gavin.
Then again, not much is, so I still give the closer a hefy thumbs up (and a hardy tuning-in-of-Tokyo to Mrs. Sedgewick ).

In any case, it is a really enjoyable show for an episodic procedural. I like how the murders are grisly and cable-worthy without the series trying to be all "deep" and full of itself. Also, while it's not a new concept, I enjoy the dynamic where Brenda is so completely badass at her job, yet a total mess in her personal life. It's fun, and one of only a few things worth watching this summer.

Marketing is what it is....and there may be a tremendous amount of truth to that statement for many viewers. (I'm in marketing )
I thoroughly enjoy the show and after watching her swing from a complete wreck to manipulating the truth out of the criminal, I'll continue to watch.
Kira is very good in this show and I honestly never paid much attention to her acting in the past.

doesnt everyone basically admit to their crime or she finds a piece of paper or a cigarette or a footprint to solve each murder.
i'm just not seeing what makes this a good show.
other then her having "big boobies"
the odd teeth and the look of a crack addict with good make-up cancels the big boobies out,
seriously she looks like whats her name from that strangers with candy show.

I do agree the hype is a bit overdone. Not really a problem for me though as I usually wait for the DVD release to watch the show. I'm not a big cop show fan, but I do admit I'm kinda hooked on The Closer and original Law & Order.
I think it was the first season episode where the rich kid molested and murdered the daughter of the families mexican servant, and the parents decided that sneaking him across the border was a good idea that got me hooked. Last ten minutes was one of the best bit of tv ownage ever!

Kyra is attractive and certainly a good actress but not the hot IMHO. I would take an episode of Battlestar Galactica over the entire run of The Closer any day. Hotter girls there too.
