John From Cincinatti - His Visit: Day 2 Continued - 6/24/07

Really liked it again.

What was Kai looking at at the end, when she said, "what's going on , John?"??? Just the media circus? And did the media see Shaunie skating?

I think they were just looking at Shaun skating. I do think that the media could see them.

I liked this episode. The "visions" development was interesting. The dialogue is so odd, though. It's like they put Deadwood dialogue through an english babelfish translator.

I find it strange how much they are focusing on this character from Hawaii. It feels like Milch is saying "Hey, you cancelled Deadwood, so I'm going to use this character to keep reminding you what you took from me."

From first impressions, I liked this episode least of all the eps shown thus far. It just felt a little too drawn out, and I'd like to see an opposing force, or a direction introduced soon. And no, Dylan doesn't count.

I thought about this, too. It'll be interesting to see if the opposing force comes as an actual person, or if it is more of an ideal creeping into the Yost family (commercialism, greed, etc.).

Also, can anyone make heads or tails of the lotto winner?

I love how he just rambles on to himself like he did on Deadwood.

I don't know, Butchie, instead.

This was the oddest episode so far. John and Kai were together was funny. He made her see God and she didn't like it.

I really kind of liked this episode...it had a wacky kind of slapstick thing going on. The hospital escape was really well done, we got to see an interesting John superpower moment, more Charlie Udder, Butchie wasn't nearly as annoying as normal, and even the three stooges at the hotel were kind of funny.

I like the scenes with John and Kai, so hopefully we will get more. A decent episode last night, just wish they would get rid of the Luke Perry character, he is not doing anything for the show.

He's annoying, yes, but the chick working with/for him is even more annoying, IMO. Easy on the eyes, but I wanted to slap her when she was sitting in the car talking to Mitch.

"I'm going to bone Kai, Butchie. I may have to break her jaw first"

I think it's gotten a little bit better with every episode.

I am starting to really like this show. Just wish they would ease up on the Deadwood speak for a little bit.

Say what you will, there's nothing else like this show on TV right now. It's very odd, but at the same time, compelling to watch, even though it confuses and befuddles me from time to time.

What are Butchie's implants? Hair plugs? Something drug-related?

I took it to be hair implants to not upset his image as a surfer. The show is very odd though I do think for the most part I understand where they are going. Certainly original, though I would trade it for season 4 of Deadwood twice every day and 8 times on Sunday. Should be a countdown to the Ian McShane cameo.

I took it to mean he had a plate in his skull...maybe from an accident or something.

One thing I love about this show, and it might not be a big deal to some, is the fact that we are only into 3 episodes, and all of the main characters are aware of most of the supernatural happenings that have been going on. People on this show actually talk or witness these things happening! I don't mean to compare this to Lost directly, but it is nice to see a show where people do not internalize everything that is extra-ordinary.

Good point. One of the most annoying elements of Lost is their never discussing anything until the "dramatic" moment.

Here's my question: Does John "know" he is god?

I was watching this episode on my laptop in the waiting room while I was getting the oil changed in my car. I lost it during that scene and everyone was staring.

"Make her see God John."

I thought it was strange that Kai and John (John gets a pass, but not Kai) would leave Shawn to go off and do their own little freaky-deaky thing. Something really traumatic happened and they act like nothing major even occured.

Also, Kai means urine-smelling in Vietnamese.
