And most every other popular station.

Where the hell is Spike?!

Think prices will go up much?

Well, Direct still doesn't offer local channels in my area in HD.

As much as I would LOVE to have all of those HD channels, I just can't make the change until I know I can get the basic networks in HD.

I'm with you on this, NFL games in HD on local channels and some of my favorite shows that I watch in HD are keeping me from the switch also.

I've read that ESPN will soon put all its live programming on 720p HD. That's why ESPN2 switched Mike & Mike in the Morning to its digital studio and moved Cold Pizza back to ESPN's Bristol, CT headquarters (as First Take) so both programs could be broadcast in HD; ESPN could have helped upgrade the Manhattan Center studios in NYC so Cold Pizza could have become an HD program.

I feel for ya. Luckily, I've always been able to get good OTA reception, plus DTV has my locals in HD anyways. But if I couldn't get them either way, and cable was the only option (which would be a moot point for me way out in the country anyways), I'd say sorry DirecTV. During "peak" TV season, I'll still probably have 75% of my recordings from locals.

Since I got HD a year and a half ago, I basically NEVER watch channels like FX, A&E, History, TBS, USA, etc. Hopefully they have their shit together soon after all these are launched, so we don't have to watch stretched shows or 90% of programming in old 4:3 SD.

Keep your eyes open in September, then.

The new sat is pretty close to launch, and will make alot of these projections happen.

I don't know that my local network affiliates will ever even broadcast in HD. It really sucks. So regardless of whether it's cable or sat I can't get network TV in HD. DirecTV doesn't even carry the locals here at all, although Dish does in SD of course.

It took a while for mine as well. We had one early adopter, ABC, and then CBS came around. Finally, late in the just-finished season, we finally got NBC. Fox and CW are still not in HD.

I think it's only been in the last year or two that Direct started offering the locals in my area, but no HD.

They have locals in HD in Tulsa, so I'll probably wait until the new TV season starts up since I have to drop more money to upgrade my equipment.

Hope this is true... I'm a little tired of the same 5 channels in HD.

Note that you'll need the five-LNB dish. HD DirecTiVos and old HD receivers need not apply.

I already have the 5 lnb dish and the new HD dvr. I hope they get all the locals in hd here, we have some, but not all. And some just isn't cutting it.

No kidding! It's sort of a blessing in disguise currently, not having a ton of HD programming.

So the HR10-250 won't be able to get all the new HD channels? Damn. Can extra hard drives be added to the new DirecTV HD-DVR?

Between VS, FX and Chiller, I am going to be very unhappy with having cable until Brighthouse also gets those stations.

Great news! Bad thing is that I need to upgrade to the MPEG4 DVR. Hopefully I can get a nice deal on that.

I just got one and I have been reading up on expanding it. Apparently you can add an external eSATA drive and it will bypass the internal hard drive. I think you need to get a 750gb or higher for it to be an upgrade.
