You can simply watch it online the next day anyway, right?

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I had the sports pack before they changed it to include NFL Network, Red Zone, etc. When they added and I wasn’t getting it, I called in to figure out why. They had to remove it and re-add and then I had those channels. Maybe that will help.

DirecTV will allow customers to opt out of receiving OTA network TV channels to reduce their monthly bill

DirecTV will allow customers to opt out of local TV stations and pay a lower monthly rate.

NextTV is reporting that customers who decide not to pay for local stations through DirecTV will receive discounts of $12 a month.

“Consumers have been voting with their wallets for years that pay TV – as currently constructed – is too expensive and restricts their choices,” said Rob Thun, DirecTV chief content officer, speaking with NextTV. “Our new ‘No Locals’ package enables customers to take an important step forward in culling out certain types of content they may no longer care to watch and better balance the price they are willing to pay.”

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

but if you have Directv how will you record shows on local channels?

Live streaming with no pausing or rewind is not a option.

The ones who choose to save $12 usually have Hulu and/or Paramount+ so they time shift watching their “local” shows.

Paramount+ usually has the episodes up within a two or three hours. Which is how I watched an episode of Ghosts after missing the opening.
