Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

With Boomerang being added, I wonder if that means I can use my DTV log-in to access the streaming service. I currently have it, but mainly for my 10 year old niece to watch it when she comes over.

Don't care about Revolt.

CNN International is decent for International news.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I think Boomerang is like one of the last reasons I kept my old, outdated legacied channel lineup. I should check what the differences are now.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I have Choice Classic and would welcome Boomerang. My kids are older (12/14), but I'd probably watch it on occasion...

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

About time.

But, I have EPIX Now through their standalone app and that's essentially the same thing. It also has the 4 live channels.

EPIX doesn't have many original shows right now. The only thing they have are Deep State with Walton Goggins (an international co-production) and Get Shorty. I think they have shows with Forest Whitaker and Ben Kinglsey coming this year though.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Do they show the movies that you can't get on the HBO, Showtime, and Starz channels?

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

I checked and they have all the movies that should be on Starz.

Starz is the real ripoff since they never show any new theatrical movies anymore and the one new movie every weekend no longer applies to them.

I think there is a free preview for Epix coming sometime this week.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

CBS and it's O&O stations are currently blacked out on DirecTV due to yet another dispute.

Here in Los Angeles, KCBS and KCAL (local news station owned by CBS) are both blacked out.

I have CBS All-Access and can watch CBS through there. But, new shows-wise, this does affect Elementary, Blood and Treasure and I guess Big Brother.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Wow that's tough about CBS, though to be honest if I hadn't seen your post I probably wouldn't have known. I checked and I have zero shows set to record on CBS for the coming weeks. Looks like CBS Sports Network bit the dust too. No big deal for a month or so but I hope they are back before the college football/NFL seasons kick off.

ETA: For the majority of people there's always the rabbit ears option. It's not like CBS has shut down their antennae.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

In other DirecTV news, I see that they added the west coast feeds for:
MTV (331-1)
TBS (247-1)
TNT (245-1)
Comedy Central (901 - likely to move to 249-1)
BET (902 - likely to move to 329-1)

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

We lost our local ABC and CBS affiliates with the Nexstar dispute. I'm using CBS All Access and the ABC app on my AppleTv for shows, but this shit better get resolved before football season starts. I live in a very hilly area here and can't get them with an antenna.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

CW is also out in the Bay Area

Pop repeats CBS Sunday Morning so I can tape it there but they better solve this dispute quickly.

Maybe with big markets like SF, NY, and LA they will try to fix this soon I hope.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Nexstar seems to have dug their heels in.

I side with AT&T and DirecTV here.

If they capitulate to CBS and Nexstar's ransom demands, you'll end up paying $400-$500 a month for your cable and satellite before long because every fucking channel will start demanding more and more money.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Showtime and MTV are part of the CBS family and they are still available on Directv.

I hope CBS does not read that sentence and those channels go dark too.

Showtime is probably unaffected because it's business model is based on subscriber fees.

CBS and it's local stations are based on re-transmission fees which are trickier.

MTV is owned by Viacom and is unrelated to CBS.

Even if it's locally blacked out?

How does this effect NFL ST? Let's say Detroit has Baltimore @ Pittsburgh as game 2 of a DH but CBS being blacked out then can NFL ST show the game?

The Los Angeles area doesn't black out games anymore, so I have no clue how this affects your region.

There is no way this goes to the start of football season.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

If you press the right arrow button on your remote where you can access the weather and other apps there is a locast app and you can sign up and stream CBS.

You can't record any shows on that app on your DVD and no pause or fast forward so if you want to watch Big Brother you have to watch it at 8pm or the exact time it airs.

Re: DirecTV -- News and Updates

Everyone doesn't have the locast app.

It's not on my Direct TV apps.
