THE CW TO WRAP 'PALMS' EARLY, DROPS SUNDAY ENCORES
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The CW is wrapping "Hidden Palms" early as the summer series will now air its swan song on Wednesday, July 4 - two weeks prior than originally planned.

To accommodate the decision, back-to-back first-run episodes of the series will air on June 20 and June 27.

In addition, the netlet has opted to drop the show's Sunday, 8:00/7:00c encores effective immediately. Repeats of "7th Heaven" will slide into said slot while back-to-back repeats of "Reba" will now fill the Sunday, 7:00/6:00c hour.

To recap:

Wednesday, June 13
8:00/7:00c - "Hidden Palms" (New Episode)
9:00/8:00c - "One Tree Hill" (Season Finale)

Wednesday, June 20 and June 27
8:00/7:00c - "Hidden Palms" (New Episode)
9:00/8:00c - "Hidden Palms" (New Episode)

Wednesday, July 4
8:00/7:00c - "Hidden Palms" (Season Finale)
9:00/8:00c - "One Tree Hill" (Repeat)

Sundays beginning June 17
7:00/6:00c - "Reba" (Repeats)
7:30/6:30c - "Reba" (Repeats)
8:00/7:00c - "7th Heaven" (Repeats)
9:00/8:00c - "Supernatural" (Repeats)
I guess this means we won't be getting a second season.

Wow...this network isn't long for the world, is it? They can't even let a summer show run through the summer.

Surprised...but not really. Hidden Palms is one of the worst shows I've ever seen...it's just bad...and not like "so bad it's good" in a guilty pleasure way like October Road... I won't miss it.

It's obvious that the CW had no confidence in this show since they relegated it to summer and only ordered 6 episodes.

Well, hopefully we will see more Gail O'Grady next season on Boston Legal.

I suppose I won't bother to watch what I have on my DVR. The CW had better hope that Gossip Girl show does well, as it seems they are banking a lot on its success.

I had been recording the Sunday nignt airings since Wednesday at 8 isn't good. I haven't watched the first couple episodes yet, and I won't. No point now.

And there are eight episodes, not six.

I think there are 8 Episodes total. The date/time table doesn't show the two episodes airing June 27th as described in the body of the post.

A little disappointed. Not because I thought it was good, but there really isn't much on this summer and I am beginning to go through withdrawals.

According to that schedule, 2 episodes will not see the light of day.

I guess color bars and tone would probably get more viewers than this show.

I watched 2 episodes and it hasn't hooked me. Nothing terribly original, no one particularly attractive

No surprise here. Three episodes has been more than enough to establish how astonishingly awful this show is.

So nobody thinks there will be a Jericho-like campaign to save this show?

The only reason I tuned into the first episode was to see Gail O'Grady (NYPD: Blue). The show was awful & probally the worst show of the summer season but it was on the CW network so I wasn't expecting much.

Guys - no offense, but what were you smoking when either of you watched this pilot?

I mean it is at best brainless eye candy, but certainly wasn't going to last more than its 8 ordered episode.

Aside from the fact that we watched an uncut Pilot that did not air, maybe, get this, people actually like this show. I don't like a lot of shows, but that does not mean my opinion means that much in terms on canceling it. Jericho fans are nuts for wanting to save such a stupid show but apparently it worked.
