The Final Sopranos - "Made in America" - 06/10/07 (WARNING SPOILERS)

http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/img/home...mg_ep86_03.jpg

This week, Dr. Melfi has cut her ties, Silvio's in a coma, and Bobby has been derailed - now, there is no more hiding. Don't miss The Final Episode of the groundbreaking series The Sopranos, Sunday at 9 pm.

mkdevo 06-08-07 08:00 AM

can't believe they moved the series finale from sunday to friday. i think it's a big mistake.

From the sticky:

In order to keep these threads readable and user-friendly, please try to hold-off on starting an episode thread until the morning the show airs. The reason for this is so we can make sure that the thread does not get bogged down in speculation and anticipation-type posts before the actual discussion of the show gets going. (Many people do not read the threads until after the episode has aired and it can be a pain slogging through two pages or more of "Can't wait!" type posts.)

Also, this way all the shows that are airing that night are right on the first page and can serve as an excellent reminder to everyone to watch. Starting threads too early can also mean your thread gets bounced to the second page and then someone else doesn't see it and starts a duplicate thread. (This seems to happen several times a week).

I agree. It's kind of uncool how you jumped other thread starters by starting this the Friday before a Sunday NIGHT episode.

Deftones 06-08-07 09:05 AM

Eh, I think this might warrant a one time exception to the rule considering it is the series finale and probably will have a lot of discussion.

definitely. maybe we can get 3 or 4 pages of posts in before we actually start talking about what happens in the episode!

TheMovieman 06-08-07 09:21 AM

I don't think it's a big deal since it's the series finale to a popular show...

MrX 06-08-07 10:09 AM

I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow so I won't get to watch this until next Sunday:(

Brent L 06-08-07 10:19 AM

MrX, I hope you're going on vacation to some remote spot on Earth, because otherwise the chances of you having this episode totally spoiled for you are pretty good.

Yea no joke. That's gonna be hard to avoid talk about this one, no matter which way the show ends.

DVD Josh 06-08-07 10:40 AM

Might as well join in. Here's a pretty good article:

Dr. DVD 06-08-07 10:44 AM

What can I say? I don't think there has been any series that I have followed more closely than this one from start to finish. This began my last semester in college and is ending in what seems like another lifetime. Heck, I've had several lifetimes over the course of this series! This was the one reason I kept getting cable at my various apartments over the years. Don't know what I will follow after this Sunday.

EDIT: I typically wait a night to watch Sopranos, but I will probably have to catch it either live or whenever I get home Sunday. I know avoiding spoilers for this one will be impossible.

raven56706 06-08-07 10:45 AM

whats the big deal... we are talking about this episode so much on the other episode so might as well start the thread already.... plus the weekend is practically here..

Michael Ballack 06-08-07 11:15 AM

I've dreamed about the final Sopranos episode the last two nights. I can't wait till Sunday.

From the article - Robert Thompson, head of Syracuse University's Center for the Study of Popular Television. <-- How do you get that job?

crankyman 06-08-07 11:25 AM

Of course, once the episode starts, we'll get 3 or 4 more pages of posts like "OMFG WTF!!!" and "DID YOU JUST SEE THAT?!?" and "NO HE DIDN'T!!!!"

KenKeith 06-08-07 11:42 AM

yay, 4-5 pages of "can't wait"

Michael Ballack 06-08-07 11:48 AM

Lost fans are used to 10 pages of that before the episode actually airs.

P.S. I predict this thread will be closed before the day is over. :D

SoSpacey 06-08-07 12:02 PM

okay, then here is my take....

Spoiler:
based on the title of the episode, and past seperate conversations from Paulie and Phil, I am thinking Tony gets killed by Paulie.

Phil made a point to say they don't know how to "make their guys" over in jersey. how jersey makes anybody. paulie is always bitching about how things have changed and he likes things the way they used to be.

I say Phil gives Paulie to chance to take over the NJ crew by killing Tony.

firteen88 06-08-07 03:44 PM

Keep this thread open, it's the series finally of one of the biggest shows ever!! Big deal if there's a few pages of "Can'twait" and "no he didn't"

Dr. DVD 06-08-07 03:50 PM

Meadow does something stupid and gets thrown in jail with Paris Hilton. The series ends right before they share their first kiss.

That's an interesting angle. But what really will happen is that AJ is going to end up getting "made".

GoldenJCJ 06-08-07 06:26 PM

I was a total dumbass and couldn't help myself to reading the spoiler (speculation spoiler btw) for the season finale of Lost and had it ruined for me. Not this time. See ya guys Sunday night...

SuperBatMan 06-08-07 08:24 PM

I just started watching season one of the Sopranos, and got hooked. I'm kinda torn on whether to watch the series finale now, or wait until I catch up on the rest of the series.

SexualPudding 06-08-07 09:37 PM

I'd highly recommend waiting. I would think it would be much more rewarding to see things unfold in order. Then again, it is going to be pretty difficult for you not to find out what happens anyway, especially if you are tempted to click in this thread after the episode airs.

hell if you must, watch the little "sopranos in 7 minutes" thing on youtube, and watch the most recent episode on demand if you have it, and then watch the finale.

hal9000 06-09-07 03:33 AM

I can't wait only 43 more hours till Sunday's episo... HEY... wait a minute... wtf, ahhh crap.

There better be a hell of a lot of wacking's this episode or I'm gonna cancel my HBO subscription!

Smidget 06-09-07 05:22 AM

I'd watch every episode, the finale will be spoiled either way, but you get to see how they got there :) So many amazing episodes in between.

DeanoBKN 06-09-07 11:50 AM

I say start from the beginning. HBO series alone, I knew how Six Feet Under and OZ both turned out, but it didn't stop me from enjoying both series from the pilot to the finale.

islandclaws 06-09-07 02:01 PM

I'm planning on watching the first episode on Sunday and then following it up with the finale. Goddamn I'm going to miss this show. It's one of the few I actually look forward to each week.

MetalGator311 06-10-07 02:40 AM

This is the opening scene

Spoiler:
Adrianna gets double teamed by Furio and the Russian from Pine Barrens

You didn't really think they were gone for good did you?

Dr. DVD 06-10-07 04:14 PM

I am actually wondering if Furio will play a part. But doubt it. I am also wondering if I should watch this live or wait until it is DVRed like I normally do and watch it an hour later. I would typically do the latter, but this isn't a typical ep.

It would be a great nod from Chase to give the die hards something they've been asking for for years now (the return of Furio). It seems he could easily be worked in as help from Italy, but I doubt Chase would do it. He seems to disapprove of all the discussion about Adrianna's death or where the Russian wound up.

Tony made it very clear in Season 5 that Furio is a dead man "if certain people see him." I always took that to mean that he didn't go back home to his original crew in Italy, but is in exile somewhere overseas. Besides, I doubt he wants to hire a guy who: A) came close to being more than friends with Carmela, and B) came dangerously close to killing him.

And considering the two hitmen from Italy completely screwed up the hit on Phil, something tells me Tony isn't terribly fond of outside help at the moment. :)

What's the point of doing this for a non-commercial show?

Arthur Dent 06-10-07 06:11 PM

You've gotta be fucking kidding me. HBO isn't working in my apartment complex. Since the complex splits off cable to each unit, calling a technician doesn't help. And the office at the complex is closed already. Looks like I'll be watching it on HBO2 at 1 am. GRRR!!!

I had forgotten that quote, I should have brushed up on the old seasons during the break
