One tree Hill "The Birth and Death of Day" 6/6/07

Spoiler:
As graduation approaches, Haley prepares for the recital of her valedictorian speech and motherhood, Nathan must adjust to life without basketball, Brooke makes a confession that may have great consequences, and Lucas confronts Dan after Karen's life is threatened.

I hope everyone watches, with this episode and the season finale is next week. It sounds good

So based on that spoiler/episode description, and the fact that the preview showed
Spoiler:
Karen giving birth in an delivery room
who the hell did Lucas shoot?

Patman 06-06-07 09:04 PM

Lucas shoot close to Dan, but didn't hit him.

Overall, enjoyed the episode, plenty of subplots being cleaned up and moving forward. Nice of Whitey to find a way to give Nathan another shot at basketball on the next level.

boogieman03 06-06-07 09:22 PM

Yea, a warning shot. I feel stooopid for not seeing that one coming.
I did expect Karen to die though.

Good episode.

I still hate Chase, but I think that's just cause of the "actor" playing him.

magiccmom 06-06-07 10:26 PM

K, One tree Hillers....do you know the name of the song that was playing during the birth of Karens baby...."I loved you once" or something like that?

bigjim25 06-06-07 10:54 PM

I loved it when SkillZ girlfriend was getting her diploma and fell down. And Rachel's back next week.

According to TVGuide, Dan is looking forward to the time jump next season. The girls will no longer be jailbait. ;)

Please tell me that is some kind of sick joke? Anyway it was a great episode, it looks like the whole series will tie up nicely next week, and be the pilot for season five.

Didn't Season 4 cover the 2nd half of their senior year? It started chronologically sometime around February or March. Yet here's Haley in late May or early June at graduation going into labor when she found out she was pregnant early on in the season.

I can't .... not watch this show. For 4 years it has repulsed me, yet I cannot turn it off.

That being said.

Good episode. Lots of Deb and the weakest link flat lined.

As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree. I liked her in the 1st and 2nd seasons when she actually had something to do but they have done close to nothing with her character for a while now, the same with Deb.

When they killed Keith, they effectively killed her character. Along with the show itself possibly. It really hasn't been any good IMO since that episode.

Red Dog 06-08-07 08:13 AM

I guess Bevin never told her parents her boyfriend was named Skillz or Antoine.

I'm glad they found a way to keep Whitey involved and for Nathan to play ball.

I kind of figure that they are going to kill of Karen to make Lucas a single 'parent' right out of HS as his mom was.

Overall, a decent episode.

Next week looks much better with
Spoiler:
Rachel back and throwing a party.

boogieman03 06-08-07 08:37 AM

Did we ever learn, before this episode, that Antoine was Skillz real name?

That is a good assessment. The dynamic of Keith, Dan, Karen & Lucas was central to the show. Of course there is the Lucas, Nate, Brooke, Haley & Peyton circle.

Nate, Haley, Dan & Deb is the only interesting(fun) circle left. Karen & Deb had some fun scenes together, but it was just some comic relief.

They ruined Rachel's character when they switched from antagonist to protagonist.

gatoinfeliz 06-08-07 02:09 PM

I hope they write the next season as the last. It would be extremely foolish of them to expect a 6th season with the numbers they have been pulling. If in fact Karen does die there would be really no point in having Deb and by the look of some scenes Dan around next season. I thought Whitey was a sure gonner for next season but thanks to that little plot line they pulled out of nowhere, he might actually be back. They should really make Bevin a full cast member next season. I disagree about Rachel. She may be a protagonist but she still has her bitchy moments especially with Brooke. I remember when they joined Clean Teens and Brooke told her "you still look like a slut" and she fired back "You still smell like a whore".

Several times.

Bluelitespecial 06-08-07 09:20 PM

I hope next week brings a showdown between Dan and Deb. I miss when they are on screen together.

Gizmo 06-08-07 09:40 PM

You all realize that next year, the show will be set 4-5 years in the future, right? Whitey may be around 'net year' in their lives, but in 4-5 years Nathan may be done with College. Dan may be getting out of jail...etc.

Original Desmond 06-09-07 12:34 AM

The characters in this show still have potential but the storylines have run their course

A in the future reboot is just what this show needs. Kinda like going from 90210 to Melrose place.

I'm sorry, but I hated the episode. The graduation scenes were just so wrong, and the music was off, and the characters just seemed out of place almost.

Don't get me wrong, I love this show - for some reason I cannot not watch it, but it definatly needs the reboot... and bad!
