I agree completely. In fact, I hated it up until the reveal. When I rewatched it, I appreciated what he was going for, but it still wasn't entertaining. And that's the problem... you can't make a movie that's only interesting once you know the twist. It should have been either so funny we didn't care that it didn't make sense, or intriguing us so we keep watching to find out what kind of situation he is in. Instead I just figured it was a really boring dream sequence or something.

I find that most of the time I disagree with the judges and in my opinion Carrie Fisher comes off pretty clueless. One time she said she wished a film ended a certain way and I was like "It did, were we watching the same film?".

ceeece 08-09-07 01:30 PM

I liked Will's movie this week but he FAILED to do the LOG LINE. The log line stated "A man wakes up in a dress and doesn't know why". Will's guy wakes up in a dress but the wondering why was never addressed!

Adam's was clever and I agree with others that unless you knew the ending the rest of the short was just plain dumb script wise.

Patman 08-14-07 11:07 PM

The clips "finale" has to go down in reality TV history as one of the lamest things ever for a penultimate episode. I skipped Will and Jason's short films, but did re-watch Adam's short films.

sinned 08-15-07 01:53 AM

That was bad. Really, really bad. Stopped watching after seeing that the first contestant was just showing 2 of his old films. The only reason to watch next week is to see if Adriana Costa will show boobage.

Groucho 08-15-07 08:09 AM

Yep, as soon as they announced there would be no new films I turned off the show. -ohbfrank-

DRG 08-15-07 09:00 AM

Yeah, that was a really lazy cheap finale. They should have had one new film and one favorite per contestant.

Its an obvious attempt to just cut losses on this failure... Spielberg is likely dreading his likely eventual appearance at the end of this abortion.

Adrianna is a hot piece o'ass tho.

TGM 08-21-07 08:05 PM

ho hummmmmmm.

Jadzia 08-21-07 08:39 PM

I loved how Adriana kept saying "the winner of On the Lot 2007".

As if there is going to be another season.

mdc3000 08-22-07 10:57 AM

boring finale and Stevie makes a 90 second cameo...although I would have killed most of my friends to have been standing in Will's shoes in that last scene...

Groucho 08-22-07 11:42 AM

So who won? I didn't bother watching.

That guy Will. I can barely remember most of his films, but I think enough people hated the "Ghetta Room" guy that they voted more against him than for Will.

He was the quiet guy that did "Glass Eye".

Scott27 08-22-07 11:59 PM

Here's the list of Will's films (to refresh people's memories of who he is), from the press release FOX sent out today announcing the winner.

During the competition, Bigham was a consistent favorite of judges Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall. Bigham directed seven original short films, including “Lucky Penny,” “Glass Eye,” Nerve Endings,” “Spaghetti,” “Unplugged,” “Road Rage 101” and “The Yes Men.”

And of course as a special honor for the very last episode, she didn't!

beesonosu 08-23-07 02:13 AM

I'm glad to see Will win as I think he had the strongest showing overall of the 3 remaining. I'm also glad to see this show go off the air as it continually tempted me to turn off the TV. The judges ranged between confusing and completely incoherent especially Leia. I'm guessing she has to be on a potent cocktail of pills judging by her mood swings and inability to form a sentence and actually critique the films. I doubt we will see "OTL 2008" but if we do it needs some major overhauling including letting the directors talk more about their direction and showing longer movies.

Adriana - I hope to be seeing you in Playboy.

Oh, and this show made me realize how VITAL DVR (or Tivo) is nowadays especially when watching reality television. I could watch an entire episode in about 20 minutes, skipping the needless repetitive motions and, of course, commericials.

I don't think so. Jason came in second and several times in the competition got the most votes for his films. I'll never forget Carrie Fisher's 180 on "Getta Rhoom". The night they showed it, she hated it and then next week, after Jason got the most votes from the public, she said something to the effect of, oh I get it now, I love it.

I had picked Jason to win early on, but I liked Will's films too so I was happy for him. Not too concerned about Jason. He's shown what he can do and I think someone will grab him.

ceeece 08-23-07 06:14 AM

Jason got ROBBED! That's all I gotta say. I think Jason's choice of clothes/ hat wearing undermined his talent as a director. Will played the "father of two" card WAY too many times and I feel that's what pushed him into the winner's circle. At least it was Will and Jason at the end.

DJariya 08-23-07 09:10 AM

I can almost guarantee that Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood or E! will sign Adrianna up for a gig. They can always use hot chicks...ahmmm reporters to interview the stars especially male stars.

Finisher 08-23-07 09:27 AM

I just liked the mental image of Spielberg going to work with a wigger every morning.

DJariya 08-23-07 03:57 PM

Who wants to bet we will not see 1 film written and directed by Will in the next year from Dreamworks? Unfortunately there is so much BS politics and red tape that I think it's going to be difficult for him to get 1 film green lighted.

.

She was being sarcastic/insincere - it was played off as a joke about how different America's tastes were from her own.
