Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

Major bummer! But, I don't blame them if they don't feel they have the material for another series.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

The show was thinning on thin ice for a while. At least it ran 2 season though.

Too bad. Great show, but the second season wasn't as strong as the first. I was hoping that they'd take some time off and come back refreshed with more great material.

That's too bad. I was looking forward to it starting up again.

I didn't expect it to return, so not surprised to hear it confirmed. Was a great show though.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

I definitely respect that they dont feel like pushing it and would rather end with what they've got- which is pretty fucking great.

So many creators in tv land do not and fans live with the half-assed results. Sometimes they can turn a corner and find the same verve again, but thats really rare.

Good. The second season was pretty bad when compared to the first, and I can't imagine a third season getting much better.

I would say the songs from the second season were much worse, but the rest of the show was just as good.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

I am actually a bit glad. The first season was genius with songs written and honed over the years in their act. The second season, while as well written and with great stories, it was obvious the quality in songs was suffering.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

Loved the first and I thought the second was OK. It's just gotta be so hard to put together the show. With the first season songs they had been playing the songs for years and knew that they worked with an audience. Then the second season rolls around and they have to write all new material in less than a year and put it out there without knowing if it is going to work or not. Same thing happened with Tenacious D. The show/first album had all the good stuff and then they had to scramble and make a 2nd album/movie quickly and it just wasn't anywhere near as good. Maybe in the future they will revist it as a special or something but for now I am totally with it being done. At least it had a good ending in season 2.

Well, apparently the first rough draft of the D movie by the guys (before JackBlack picked up steam) was good and bizarre, but they couldn't get it greenlit. Rewrites ensued, new people came in, and the movie plays like a compromise, a safer D flick.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

Just finished watching the 2nd season. I liked it but I could see the jokes wearing out after a while. Good to end it now while people still like them. I do hope that they still occasionally put out albums.

Re: Flight of the Conchords Finished

Disappointing, but not too surprising. And like most here, thought the first season was better, at least as far as the songs go. Still, glad I got two fun seasons out of this show.

Maybe in a year we can get a special or something. A better one than Extras gave us.

I was really just referring to the songs themselves not the flick really.

I enjoyed the Extras finale.

But, yeah, it would be nice to see a Conchords finale.

Re: Flight of the Conchords, Evicted, 3/22/09 Season Finale

HBO has commissioned some sort of new Flight Of The Conchords show:

I'd like to see that, especially now that they have had a good long while to write some new songs. They kind of blew their wad the first season pretty much playing everything from their act they had developed for years. I liked the second season EXCEPT for most of the songs.

Their first season songs weren't all that great either.

I look forward to it, anyway. Hopefully Rhys Darby will also be involved.

Re: Flight of the Conchords -- HBO Series Thread

It’s business time: “Flight of the Conchords” may be returning to your TV screen. Jemaine Clement, one half of the comedy music duo, told IndieWire on Friday that he and Bret McKenzie will indeed be filming a special this year for HBO.

Clement was light on the details, but it appears that the duo will be shooting the special for HBO timed to their upcoming U.K. concert tour. Clement and McKenzie, who previously did a series of American festival tour dates in 2016, will hit the U.K. and Ireland this March and April. Clement said the Conchords are now prepping for their return to the stage.
