I keep reading that this season will be the last. Is that official or just speculation?

Reuters:
The delay in the second series sparked speculation among fans that it could be the last.
"Maybe," said Clement. "We haven't decided."
McKenzie joked that he had been on the Internet a lot, starting rumors about the show's future and Clement added "if he starts a rumor that it's the last season, we might get a bit of a better pay offer".

Re: Flight of the Conchords - Season 2 clean up thread
I think it's been obvious that the songs are much weaker this season than the first. That's understandable considering the first season used most of their preexisting songs, which they had spent years developing and honing in clubs.
While the songs really added to the show last year, this season I would enjoy the show the same or even more without most of them. I would be perfectly happy if they only did songs when they really nailed one, whether that's once a show or only several times a season

I thought it was great. Mel tucking them in and locking the door. Getting deported back. Was this the season or series finale? Time will tell I guess.

Another episode where the episode rocks but the songs (or lack thereof) kind of suck. I really hope it wasn't a series finale, but they sure ended it as such.

Not my favorite episode this season. It had some good scenes, like Mel and Doug breaking the news that they are separating, but the musical seemed like a wasted opportunity.
Maybe they will do one in a couple of years when their batteries are recharged. Personally I would love to see a Mel and Murry spinoff.

Nothing in this episode really worked for me. It was probably my least favorite episode this season. Disappointing really, since it is probably the last episode ever.
I don't feel like there has been a good song since the epileptic dog episode actually.

I heard them say before that the second season was it, that Flight of the Concords was ending. So I'm guessing it was the series finale. Was it not advertised as such? I haven't seen it yet. Weird.

I've also heard that this was the last episode.
I thought there were some really great moments in this episode, including the aforementioned Doug/Mel separation scene, Dave as the Statue of Liberty, and the best band meeting roll-call of the series.
I'm really going to miss this show and hope it comes back.

Re: Flight of the Conchords, Evicted, 3/22/09 Season Finale
Rhys Darby has revealed he and the co-creator of The Flight Of The Conchords have considered making it into a film.
The co-star of the hit TV comedy plays Murray Hewitt, manager of New Zealand's fourth most popular digi-folk paradists, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, and revealed they were already in talks.
Rhys said: "James Bobin likes the idea of doing a film, James Bobin he's the co-creator."
"But... when you make a film it's got to be, you've got to have a really great story. Whether you go and do a back story, or whether you take it off on a different tangent you have to put a lot of thought into it. So I would definitely love to do it, but we will have to wait and see."
Rhys said of the show: "The best moments are when we are doing band meetings and those are the treasured moments. We improvised a lot of those and we have the most fun. Sometimes those band meetings go on for eight minutes you know and they have to shout 'Stop you realise the show's only 24 minutes' you know but we have so much fun doing them.
"I think one day if it's not in the second DVD they'll be a lot of extras and deleted scenes because there is so much that we haven't seen yet."

HBO gives hope for third Conchords series
http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/m...ds_series.html
Flight of the Conchords
MipTV: HBO is anticipating a third series of cult comedy Flight of the Conchords, despite rumours that its creators would not return after a second run.
Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have admitted that writing new songs for the second series had proved difficult, having exhausted their material in the first 12-part series, which aired on BBC4.
Prior to the US debut of the second run late last year, McKenzie said: "The second series seems to me like it would be a good end to the show. That will be enough."
But when asked if the hapless folk duo had performed their last gig with the broadcaster, HBO president of west coast operations Michael Lombardo told Broadcastnow: "I think not. Admittedly, they were exhausted when they finished their latest series.
"They are serious musicians and it is a daunting task to write so many new songs, especially since their used their entire repertoire in season one.
"But they are taking a break before going on a live tour and I fully expect them to be back in late 2010 or early 2011."
HBO aired the final episode of the second series on 22 March, with the closing scenes seemingly wrapping up the show. It will roll out on BBC4 this spring and continues to follow New Zealand's "premiere digi-folk parody duo" as they try to break into the New York music scene.

I can definitely see that. Having just watched the second season over the past 2 weeks, the songs they come up with were utterly forgettable. But on the plus side, the writing was much stronger so it pretty much evened out. Anyway, the end of the season definitely works as a series closer, but I wouldn't mind a third season.

I too would welcome another season of this show -- though I was satisfied with the closure that season 2 offered.

I don't see any reason it couldn't continue. The end of the first season seemed to wrap up the series as well.
Or they could always go the Sledge Hammer Season 2 route (trying to summon Alan Spencer to the thread).

Re: Flight of the Conchords - Season 2 clean up thread
hi guys,
i'm a massive fan of TFOTC and have only been able to see the first episode of season 2 on youtube.
This is because unfortunately i reside in the UK.
All sites tell me i cannot take delivery of the second season dvd untill august. however when looking on the HBO site it says its available now in the US.
is this true, and if so does anyone know how i could get hold of it?
thanks in advance for any help/advice received.

I don't think it comes out on DVD until August 4th in the US. That's what the HBO store and TV Shows on DVD says ...
